Simplisafe Update (by zero [IN]) Posted on: Mar 27, 2024 9:15 AM

Well I have a Simplisafe system I have been using for a year or so in my storage house and barn. Just has motion detectors.

I do not have a subscription to this as it was all for testing. The plan was to move it to open places as needed but I like having it there so I bought a used system, same as what I already had.

I got it all set up and configured then there was an update available. Since I was home I figured I would do it then. No wifi at the open places.

Well I took it to my current open place and then found I had no access to it from my app.

Looked into it some more and realized the update now only allows push notifications. No app connections any more.

Wish I had realized that before I did the update.

I know I can spend a little monthly to get it all to work again, but I was being cheap on this. Once my empty comes up in a couple weeks I will pay for the cheap plan. Still no wifi so no cameras will be involved.

We had n update that required them to mail Us a computer chip card to install! It replaced the one in there already. But that was a year ago and we didn't notice any access changes. I'm glad you shared! --172.59.xxx.xx

Again, I think it will only effect the people that were not paying any subscription.

Just checked my old system and it is doing fine on my app, but the new (used) one says can not connect.

Guess I shouldn't expect continued service for just the cost of the unit.

Curious if anyone else was sucking up the free service. --107.147.xx.xx

$19.99 is cheap price to be up to date on the software. --146.70.xxx.xx

You get the updates for free no matter what.

Problem with the last update is that it killed my app for turning on and off the system.

If I forget to turn the system on or a contractor comes in while I am gone then too bad.

I will turn the low level plan on when the next place comes open. --107.147.xx.xx
