I just can't with the prospects any longer... is anyone else getting this recently?

I have multiple inquiries over the course of a day or week(s) with "different" names (some come in as "Ari, Adrian, Adriana, Andrianna, etc" THEN... they come in as "Rayonna" or any other combination and when you go into the link it changes to "Adrian" or whatever.

This is so weird.

Also, I just spoke with a woman that I sort of looked up before I actually called because the number is in CA (so I waited until it was after 8am there just in case they were actually in CA even though the inquiry came in around 9am MY TIME). The note on the bottom of the inquiry stated they were looking for their son who works "all of the time", blah, blah, blah (which I really want to speak to the son but I know that sometimes the parents get involved first thinking they are "helping". Anyway...

I call this woman, she acts like she has no idea what I'm talking about and I say "so you didn't inquire on an apartment for your son?" and I read what the comment was to her. She said "oh, yes honey, I'm sorry, we are in the middle of also selling our home so I was confused why you were calling" HUH? I just told you WHY I was calling.

Ok... whatever... so then she says "so where is this located" (I only told her a few times already but sure... whatever) so I tell her the city and state.. she said "well, we live in CA, not sure why you would call me from the other side of the country honey... we aren't moving there" and hung up.

I think I'm done for today... I can't handle the stupidity any longer.

I've noticed on Craigslist that I don't see the tagline on there saying... Here's a few nearby properties. ( or whatever that line was. Now, the 'nearby' properties just show up in the feed. So, I search for comps for Milwaukee, and next thing I know, I'm looking at properties in Indiana. Wonder if there is something like that going on with some of the other house/ apartment websites? Though CA to Ny is a long way.

I know many on here say not to answer the phone, etc but I do.

Plenty.. funny... sometimes I truly think I am losing it or it's me. It's unbelievable in all honesty, there use to be people that you just couldn't believe and knew they were a waste of time but now it's almost every one.

I wouldn't give a second thought to an out-of-state phone number. People don't change their numbers when they move, and we have lots of "transient" military here.

DJ, I agree with you on the phone numbers not changing.

My father decided to get cell phones for he and my mother. This was back when land lines were still a thing.

He was up near the top of the state when he bought them on a whim. Everyone was long distance when they called either of them. It was a pain.

Every once in a while he will say how it all worked out in the end.

About 2 years ago, Zillow stopped giving people's full names. "Rholanda Smith" became "R. Smith."

Why?

Well.... certain names are typical of certain groups who are... ahem... favored in certain circles. Have you ever heard the name Joninqua and you didn't immediately get an image in your mind?

Thus, the shadowing of names to prevent illegal discrimination. It's funny though: I'd still see Jose, Carlos, Juaquin, etc. Almost like they were only shielding one particular group...

Anyways, now they just completely anonymize the name, I think. But again it's funny, because you gets lots of Joe and Amy, but no Shaniqua or Trevon. It's almost like a perverse form of cultural naming appropriation. *wink

I don't care... hundreds "I'm suuuuuper interest" emails, none of which I keep track of. If they send me no name at all, that's fine, because I get that name via pre-screening before anyone gets a tour. I do keep track of those requests, and if someone plays the name game with me there, then I DQ them for false information.

And yeah... "all calls go to voicemail."
