Our local section 8 office is going to start using nspire as their basis for their annual or biannual inspections of the rental units later this summer.
Does anyone have experience with this system?
It looks like the nspire section 8 inspections will be more in depth and detailed.
And more costly for the owner?
Thanks

Yes here too. It's just a check list. Only a few things different. Were we informed at an inspection mid Feb and had to add a short handrail on three steps and move a carbon fix to the ceiling not just high up on the wall. The check list is online. --172.59.xxx.xxx |

My housing authority started using Gilson Inspection Services a couple of years ago. Gilson uses NSPIRE, which was developed by HUD to standardize inspections across all HUD programs. For my part, I didn't see any difference though the NSPIRE inspection process is said to be more rigorous.
My housing authority has a shortage of units. I can't imagine that they would do something to drive away housing suppliers and make that problem worse. --107.141.xx.xxx |

I know a guy in MI. who has 80 plus doors and
only works with special 8, exclusively.
Now there's a man who could write an interesting LL book. --69.130.xxx.xxx |

In my hood it never mattered what the process was ... the trick was to befriend the S8 inspector. --198.168.xx.xxx |

I did the same thing with the building inspector for the county.
He was into old cars. I would drum up some info before the meeting, just in case. He was a good guy tho, never any problems with him. --107.147.xx.xx |

Their check list doesn't list things that are very much different than the things that my local PHAs & BOHs use. The one exception is I don't see a place to check off whether it's tenant or LL responsibility to correct.
