Too many dogs? (by GKARL [PA]) Posted on: Feb 12, 2024 4:23 PM

I have a single tenant who has two labs. I have two co-applicants who have two labs and a jack russell terrier. This is a two bedroom unit and I just think that's too many dogs/people for this unit. BTW, the tenant with the two labs lives upstairs. She has a larger unit though and it's just her. Thoughts on pet limits?

With a 250 registration fee per animal I would think 2 is enough, besides where you gonna get the repair funds after moveout for window sills, digging under porch or fence, lawn mine clearing and who knows what else that is never cleaned up at move out? move out means bring the dog to the new place, tie it up and see how much it can destroy while we go back and demand the deposit. --184.59.xxx.xx

Our city only allowed 3 pets total. Then the bleeding harts modified the total and mix. Like you can have 3 dogs and a cat.

But if anyone has a large dog in an apartment and they want to add to the mix more 4 legged beasts, they are irresponsible owners/caregivers.

With more than 1 or 2 large dogs, to feed those dogs, unless their uncle is Bill Gates, they won't be able to afford renters insurance nor the rent. I would pass.... --47.155.xx.xxx

Gman,

2 animals is our limit. But I have bent that rulle in a few situations and allowed 3 - country setting, no carpet, fenced yard...

I LOVE animals and the extra income we get but I no longer allow dogs in multis due to barking while humans are away. Cats only.

BTW Vet records are nice but do not show you damage or barking by the dog.

Our township has a four animal max limit, so I let them know that the pet fee is progressive. $25 for the first pet, $50 for the second (total is $75), and the third and four are $100/each per month.

People don't mind paying that extra $25 or even $75 - they will not pay more than that around here. --24.101.xxx.xxx

Did I read this correctly? Two upstairs with two labs. Two downstairs with two labs and Russel. The Russel would be the problem. I have one that is poodle Russel. Cute face and solid dynamic body that can get through any barrier. And logistics. How can four people with five dogs manage the yard, walks, barking. Chaos. No way. --173.61.xxx.xxx

I don't have high end places. Not D class but I would say C for sure.

That being said since the first one I have never supplied window coverings. They are never what the tenant wants or they get destroyed and you have to get more anyhow.

Now I have moved towards not supplying screens either. I spent so much on screens and frames it was amazing. Now I tell them if there is a blind or a screen it is a bonus. If not then they can supply their own and take them when they leave. --107.147.xx.xx

We have one person in a condo with 3 ESA dogs and they want to move. They wonder why no one wants to rent to them. --146.70.xxx.xxx
