I have a vacant SFH. House is gutted due to flood damage.. All windows have been boarded up from the inside. I live 3 hours away. What would be the best monitoring system? I have Honeywell cameras at my MF, but I don’t think I need high powered at a SFH. Should I try ADT?

We have Eufy cameras with security lights. It has built in AI program to activate with noise/sensor. Its app provides sound alert option when it is being activated. Quality is very good. Cliffs of short videos with date time saved to its calendar for at least 3 months. Videos can be download. This is not a subscription. It does need electric wiring, which supports the quality. It needs Wifi.

I have seen Eufy with solar panel so the electric wiring is not required. I plan to purchase this for another property. --96.255.xx.xx

Geo,

Bummer. We had several homes underwater during a local flood.

What do you hope to protect? Getting it repaired?

Are police available to react when notified?

Do you have electricity, internet at the house? RING's basic system is inexpensive and uses wifi, gives you live views, and has human monitoring available.

SimpliSafe system is less expensive and uses text stye internet so no video without wifi. Moniotoing is a little more money but does not need wifi.

I recently bought a video camera, night vision, two way audio, works off solar power and does not need internet to see a live view. Small monthly fee.

On Amazon, $79, XPARKIN 4G LTE Cellular Outdoor Security Camera Without WiFi needed...

I have problems with solar power cameras not having enough power through the nite. Plus, nite vision can be questionable. Does the XPARKIN have good battery power? Good nite vision? Depth of vision? Lite turn on at nite could be a problem. Rather not have camera being spotted that much. Am looking to install several cameras to cover the street. Want to install 12 ft tall post on circle and street entrance. I own all the properties on a dead end street. Suggestions appreciated. --99.191.xxx.xx

I have Yi cameras at my place. They need wifi. No subscription gets you live views and 6 second video clips. Quality is decent. If you do not get the subscription they will spam your app hard. I am wanting to get away from them just because of this.

I have Simplisafe at a place with no wifi. It just has motion sensors so not what you want but it does a good job of informing me. When testing it at home there is a camera. Wifi needed. It is indoor but the quality was pretty good. They have outdoor rated cams now. All sensors are battery powered and have lasted thru winter cold in Indiana in a non-heated building.

I have ADT at my house. No cams but lots of window/door sensors. It is monitored and expensive. You can't do anything without a tech coming over. I want to dump them and go with Simplisafe but just haven't done it.

Best part with Simplisafe is that once it's all said and done at the property you can move it easily to another one.

I also have a trail camera that is at another empty. It uses cell. I pay a sub for it to get unlimited pics. Still shots only. Sent to your phone. Obviously no monitoring but it does allow me to see who is there. --107.147.xx.xx

It’s boarded up and gutted. What are you concerned about? --24.152.xxx.xx

@Colleen, just watched a YT on the Eufy camera. It looks pretty good. I like the solar options. I’m thinking I won’t have a problem with not getting enough sun in San Diego.

@NE, although the house is gutted, it still may be subject to vandals & thieves. I had two water hoses stolen that were at the back of the house. No clear evidence if it was the day laborers working for the contractor or randoms roaming the neighborhood. Plus I will be keeping garden tools & equipment to use when I do a monthly check ups.

@Brad, there is electric. I will get internet in the coming months. --99.50.xxx.xxx

I got the Eufy S340 (solar). So far, I'm very impressed with the video quality & ease of use. The cameras rotate 360. I put one on each corner. --72.223.xx.xxx
