When (and what) was the last time/item you printed something? Or copied or faxed?

We have a cheap laser and I think we've used it about twice. I do need to print some labels to stick on my property tax forms listing repetitive info (what's included in our rentals - appliances and such - and are they long or short term, that sort of thing.) That's because I'm too lazy to hand-write everything on these stupid forms. I think the last time I used the printer was last year, for exactly the same reason.

I was just curious, so I looked up printers on Amazon, and I'm mildly surprised to find they still have "All In Ones" (Printer, Scanner, Copier, Fax...)

When was the last time you faxed something? It's been years for me. Who even has a fax number these days? Even when I *had* to fax things back in the day, I used an e-fax service. So an actual fax? Decades ago!

A printer that also scans, fine. But if you have a scanner, why do you also need a copier (you can just scan and print?)

Random thoughts on useless technology, that's all. --173.28.xx.xxx

If there is a better or cheaper way i dont know how to do it. --74.77.xx.xx

My preference is to be as paperless as possible, but...

I print frequently. There are times I need paper in hand. Example - there are forms that I still print and complete at move-in - the walk-through inspection template being one of them.

I print letters and envelopes.

I have not used a fax machine in years, but I occassionally do run across a situation where I need to send a fax - usually related to medical or medical insurance. I scan these documents and fax them electronically. I always ask if I can scan and email, but sometimes I'm told no. --68.1.xxx.xx

No longer have a printer at home. But I do go to the library to print out some things, and scan and fax. My HUD office requires some forms to be emailed. So I have to scan. I'm still printing out leases. --172.59.xxx.xxx

What's a check?

Seriously I've had the same books of checks (one for each LLC and one personal) for years and years and years...and years. The only check I ever really wrote was to my Lawn Guy but he started accepting Zelle (I forced him kind of...) so now I never hand-write them.

I go through my bank and use their Bill Pay system if I have to send a check. Free postage and envelopes that way too. So the stamps I have in my desk drawer have been for years too. --173.28.xx.xxx

I print a lot of pictures I take of my rentals (in/fix/out). I also print lots of applications and rental agreements when newbies come and go. Just had a 3 1/2 year group leave. Now I have lots of use for my old printer. --70.181.xxx.xx

For work, I mostly use the scanner part of my print/copy/scan machine.

When I enter my receipts into the spreadsheet, I scan the paper receipts & save them on a thumb drive-then file the paper ones away.

I do Applications & Rental Agreements all electronically, but I still print out the move-in inspection form - because that is done in person, and I can make notes on it as needed.

Then, the final copy signed by everybody is scanned & stored electronically - and emailed to tenants to become part of the rental agreement.

I also print the move-out inspection form, the routine maintenance checklist - again, because I take them to the property and make notes while I'm there. Eventually, it's all scanned to be saved.

Oh, yeah, I'll also print out a property inspection checklist for when I look at a potential purchase - so I remember to check out as much as possible while I'm there and make notes as to work needed, for doing estimates & coming up with an offer.

I use the printer more for personal use - to make sign-up sheets and schedules and such for groups I'm involved with at church. --68.229.xxx.xxx

When I am asking for LL references and the prospect came from an apartment complex 1/2 will want a fax and 1/2 will want me to email the form so I still use my fax machine.

All paper documents get scanned. I print leases and move in reports. Scanned copies get emailed and put into the PM software file library.

I keep paper copies and digital copies of everything. Maybe it's overkill, I don't know. There are times when it is just easier to pull the tenant's file and flip through the paper than search for it on the computer.

Move out instructions are emailed and printed and mailed to the tenant so as to encourage them following directions.

Do what every works for you.

My office fax machine prints a basic report showing that the message went through, to what number, at what time on what day. I find that valuable when sending notifications to gov't agencies. --73.141.xxx.xxx

I just printed a non-renewal letter for a tenant. Turns out it was enough to convince her to find the late fees and pay them the same day.

I still keep physical copies of receipts. Even the ones I have to print from the computer. Old habits I guess. I really need to stop doing that and just dump them into a file. Will take up less space that way.

Guess I could start scanning the ones I get from other places as well. But I am inherently lazy and just don't want to right now.

I use the scanner portion for the existing leases when I have to send them to the eviction lawyer. Slowly those will all be gone as I do new leases and applications electronically now.

Don't remember the last time I faxed something. I am sure I would have taken it to my realtor or the wife to her W2. --107.147.xx.xx

I have more than one printer, but my primary is an all-in-one laser machine. I printed with it today. I made copies today (of a letter I had printed out and signed – I needed a signed file copy for my file). I scanned multiple documents today – two of the documents I needed to send out via email (one I received by snail-mail and the other I received via e-mail but I had to print it out and mark it up before I passed it on). I sent out four faxes last Thursday, physically running the hard copies through the fax machine. I have not received any faxes for a few weeks, I am too lazy to go through my fax logs to see when.

Many doctors’ offices use faxes, both to send and receive. Under HIPPA, they need to protect patient privacy, and a fax is much more secure than email.

I rarely use faxes and when I do they come in my email. An outbound fax for me is like a scan which again I rarely do. Printing is not that heavily used either. I typically have dual monitors on my desk so I can read in one monitor and do whatever I want to do with the computer on the other. Most my doctors use portals to communicate with me so I'm not getting anything from them via fax or email. I also use portals for my clients which also eliminates the faxes and emails on that end. --172.56.xx.xxx

And we still sign paper leases. --69.80.xx.xxx

W,

We're mostly paperless but I'm amazed how much paper we still buy.

Move in checklist is part of the digital lease by Docusign.

We still print my 4 pager Turnover Checklist to use in the field.

Apps are online. App screening checklist is paper so we can make lots of scribbles.

Fujitsu SnapScan scanner is da-bomba! I bought one for each helper.

Copier function is really handy.

Ring Central for fax. Still get some apps and docs by fax.

"We still print my 4 page Turnover Checklist to use in the field." We use a thing on our phones for that.

I just wrote to Buildium staff yesterday asking if we could access our tax documents online, because if not now I have to scan the ones they mailed me. I know they are legally bound to provide paper, but I want to access digital copies.

Nope.

Stupid. --173.28.xx.xxx
