Gov Joke-ul signed the clean slate act expunging criminal records. Background check will do you no good here in NYS. Most felonies are pled down so you practically have to be a serial killer of over 50 to show up in a criminal background check. Great job! --70.158.xxx.xx

This is the systematic deconstruction of this country. There’s no denying it anymore. Just a question of where do we go from here? You’re not gonna pour some fancy lever in November and vote your way out of this nonsense. We’re way past that point. --24.152.xxx.xx

Here’s an idea, can you start requiring state police clearances as part of application for tenancy? Because there will still be establishments such as schools and churches who need state police clearances in order to have volunteers working events with children. If you can require these clearances for tenancy, you will get around the public knowledge aspect of criminal history, because the state police will absolutely still have that history.
Then you can pick up the rest of the info through credit and regular screening. You have to know who is moving into your unit. Clown politicians at their finest. --24.152.xxx.xx

I had to laugh because Joke-ul was decrying "what other alternative is there? these poor people can't get housing and jobs??"
the other alternative is to stop breaking the law.
This is a slap in the face to everyone who bothered to be law-abiding. --172.59.xxx.xx

Exactly, it’s just more of the same. Nobody should be surprised by this. Try to solve one problem and not solve it, yet create 10 more. Typical. I guarantee there are people in New York shopping for joy today, criminals and brain dead anything goes leftists. --24.152.xxx.xx

I’m willing to bet you still have to pass a background check to get pretty much any government job. What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander. --166.198.xx.xxx

Some countries offer skills training where they enter trades while not ideal solution where most will enter the work force. Certain types of criminals are incorrigible which means they always re offend. Watching 60 minutes Australian tv where they indicated some trailer parks in Us housed predators where must be completely away from children. As a rental housing provider it is essential that the rental complex is safe for all the residents as drug dealing along other illegal activities will compromise. One time had 5 rental units for rent arrears where the first one on sheriffs list was evicted where the other four rental units did not want to meet the sheriff. After that never seen a person with two vicious dogs come around the building where he looked around along never stayed more the few minutes. It is common for drug dealers to carry illegal hand guns which are brought into country illegally. For some criminals there is way back to normal life where others it is not. Here it is estimated that 10 per cent are criminals. I am not giving out social insurance number along with lost birth certificate. I do not rent to a alias end of story. Once at the 700 above score then many of them are eliminated. They try to claim discrimination under human rights tribunal where without proper identification a legal credit check is not legal where they already show they disregard laws along with they prove they are not honest. --207.236.xxx.xxx

I would think it is a great time to buy a rental right next to your governors mansion. That home would be an ideal transitional house for sex offenders. After all a clean slate means your governor will not mind having a weirdo living next door --24.101.xxx.xxx

Sid, again this is just a PREVIEW of what is coming to your RED state. Don't think they won't enact this country wide next year by the current regime. And if a similar regime is installed Nov 2024 (if they even bother to hold elections) then it will definitely go country wide. No place to run.
Most of us have jobs/families/homes here. --64.246.xxx.xxx

I just saw this on a feed.... just can't make it up. I "understand" that some that were accused and found guilty may not have been but that isn't a reason to "wipe the slate clean"... do better on the charges and the proof. Yet they are making even THAT more difficult because they only have so much time to do that now or they are "free".
This is because people that violate our laws are now complaining because they did but now no one wants to "give them a chance". Let me tell you something....
I just had a person that was just out of prison for stealing catalectic converters. He was younger but that's fine. I asked him what he did... he "sort of" told me (by that I mean he "admitted" to doing it but still claimed "he didn't know he was stealing them... he was under the impression that it was the persons vehicles that he was removing them from" ... yeah, ok.
Well... I denied him on other factors BUT... last week... there was a murder... I'm not going to say he did it... but he was the one covered in blood and when the police were knocking on the door ... he walked out, locked the door behind him (covered in blood) and walked up to the police as though nothing happened. The person slain was stabbed MULTIPLE TIMES and SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES as well. Blood was dripping through the floor to the downstairs neighbor (which is who called it in saying "I think my ceiling is leaking blood").
Yeah... ok ... lets give him a chance too. --69.201.xx.xxx
