State Specific Question About: GEORGIA (GA)

Is a sheriff required to evict tenant in GA?

I have a writ of possession for my tenant however I am told I must have a sheriff present for the eviction. The sheriff's first availability is not until Jan 4 2024. I looked on online and did not find anything on a sheriff being required but also could not find anything saying they have to be there as well. --24.30.xx.xxx

if you schedule the sheriff and get the date-- yes he will NEED TO be there. YOU can keep calling the sheriff civil division and ask for any available cancelations. Happens occasionally.

Believe it or not that's good news. They had been 4 to 6 months out. What county-- Clayton?
