I co own a house with my son that the rooms are rented out to 3 young men. The house is heated with gas and as one of them doesnt conserve (at least not AC), id like to install a wi fi controlled thermostat that only i can set from 50 miles away. As i dont live there i cant say exactly who is being foolish, but id like to get a grip on the future bills. Have any of you had success with a wi fi controlled thermostat that youd care to share your experiences? --68.7.xxx.xxx |

Send word that all the rents are going to be increased to make up for the non-conserving tenant and let them hash it out.

If that is not practical, raise the rent.

A fast way to lose 250bux, automation you can not observe in person, if forced air system put a simple t-stat inside the air return, no batteries, set to your highest setting and that is where it stops, so simple - interrupt the red wire.

There is always a work around when there is a way. It could be ice or a blow drier on the thermostat. Would you know any better when you are 50 miles away?
Perhaps you should show them the bill and then raise the rent to make up for the increase. Then perhaps one of the three can police the other two --24.101.xxx.xxx |

I appreciate everyone's input. Thankfully this house is in a very moderate climate but even still I suspect one is giving me issues. They've been shown what the projected bill will be next month and I'll be sending everyone a bill. Thank you Vee for suggesting the t-stat and it may be time to invoke the "happy clause". Managing this place was thrust upon me and I'm scrambling to keep up
