Anyone have experience with combination keypad entry locks?
I am looking at non-wireless. Keys are weighing me down.

I installed a dozen Schlage light commercial use keyless entry about 3 years ago. They run ~$120 each. So far 2 have had to be replaced. Not bad considering the heavy use.
There is a key to override the keypad. In case the 9V dies. So you'll still have a key to manage. --198.168.xx.xxx |

Thanks. Regular locks dont have such a failure rate. What failed about them? --68.174.xx.xxx |

In the house using a keyless deadbolt lock where changed out 9 volt battery where lock has a key if battery dies. Have had no problems which is grade 2 lock which means light commercial. Lock requires a better quality battery. The more expensive locks will work with cell phone. I like keyless as will always can back in. In the apartment using grade 2 deadbolts with a passage lock so no one can locked out. It is easier to have all locks mastered where one key opens everything. --74.220.xxx.xxx |

Over the past couple of years, I installed a commercial grade yale lock on a walk in garage door and last year I installed a Schlage on a side door of a duplex so I can access the hallway/basement without having to go through one of the apartments. So far, have not had any issues with either one. --75.86.xxx.xxx |

We had quality control issues over the last 2 yrs with Schlage. We went back to regular keys. We don't have enough units to do landlordlocks --64.246.xxx.xx |

Any lock in a rental unit is going to go through very hard use where if possible go to grade one lock which is expensive. So far at the house have very good results with a Schlage deadbolt grade two lock. The passage lock is grade two as well where will not use any grade three locks with other deadbolt locks. Found on and off was able to buy used locks at the Habitat for Humanity restore where bought grade one locks where out of three or four was able to make two to three locks. Grade one is heavy commercial where a large building will use. Even used Grade two for doors as found they stand up to abuse. I always was able to fix where today went by a house where a lawnmower was out in front where brought home then repaired wheel assembly then checked oil level then pulled rope where started first pull. Going to change oil, sharpen blade where never had a lawnmower with Kohler engine before. Tossed one out where it is too expensive to fix where put no parts into this lawnmower. --74.220.xxx.xxx |

We use electronic deadbolt locks on our own home and our per diem rentals. In 4 years, no failures and we love them. --69.80.xx.xxx |

Any lock locksmith should be able to set you up with a master key system. 1 key opens 1000 doors.
I use landlord locks because I like the ability to swap out the cores in 5 seconds while the tenant looks on in amazed fascination. I do this during the move-in walk through and we get it on video where they try the new key vs the old key, and it's clear that their unit has been fully secured.
$45 per door. A cheap life improvement step. No more swapping out deadbolts.
