She gets out of car, runs back to my car, rips the door open and grabs me by the arm yelling at me for turning from the wrong lane. There is only one lane on each side of the road. I pull my arm away and try to grab the door handle and she does it again. I pull again and I am able to shut my door and lock it. I had a covid mask on since my car has allergens in it so I guess that changed her mind. Despatcher sends cop. He is very nice.. Looks at my papers and goes and talks to her to explain why she was in the wrong. He apologizes for her by saying she is just a "twenty something". I had asked if she was high. Both belong to the same ethnic group. I will get the police report online in a couple days. I was able to drive the car home as the hit was right behind the front right tire but I will have it flatbedded to Subaru on Monday to check it out. Then I will call insurance company. Why didn't the cop ask to see the other driver's cel-phone to see if she was talking without a hands-free device or texting at the time of impact. They're both moving violations in this state. Ally - you have 30 days from the accident to ask for a summons to be issued if other driver is at fault for the car damage and possibly a year for the assault. However this may lead to unfair retaliation from the other driver so think about that carefully. Anyone can get a police report copy with names/addresses of all parties involved. I have no witness to the assault as I was alone in the car. I put a post up on local FB page to ask if anyone driving by saw this and would be a witness. If I can't get one it's a she said/she said problem. There was someone in the car with her but I think could not see back to where she did that. 6x6 i am 77 years old and no strength. I was lucky I got the car door closed. I am going to get hair spray or a car deodorant so no one can tell me it's a weapon. Around here they hit cars and then tell the person they hit it's their fault and want to argue with them. I did get my car hit in aparking lot once. I was in the supermarket and was called out to the lot by a policeman on the PA system. So i go out and he shows me where someone hit my bronco II and then fled. So I look at the damage and it's a crumple behind the bumper, not large. So I say I don't want to file anything and he leaves. So then a bystander comes up to me and says that he was a witness and the cop, white cop, hit my car with his cruiser. Witness says he will go right to the police station with me and we can report this. I said no that there is no way to win this with a cop and thanked him. i said he was welcome to go there if he wanted to. Well, that cop was later removed from the force and became a Building Inspector and I had many problems with him. very authoritarian and rude.
