What is the funniest, weirdest or grossest thing you've seen in a tenant's apartment?

We had a very prim and proper school teacher tenant a few years ago. During our yearly walk-through we noticed a pair of pink furry handcuffs and riding crop hanging from her headboard.

I tenant moved out and did a pretty good job of cleaning even. Looks looked fine. However, in the bathroom, there happens to be storage shelf with a little cubby that kinda tucks around the corner -- so it is easy to miss something in there. Inside, I discovered a, um, how do I put this... "pocket toy for men's pleasure" inside a box. (It was not brand new...)

We've found lots of other gross bits that are mostly just from lack of cleaning and such. But that would be the "item" that came to mind first. :)

Well, one time when I was showing a (still-occupied) house for rent - before I did periodic maintenance visits - I discovered that the man living there had an addiction to pornography. VHS tapes stacked high, everywhere, with very....Ummm.... Inappropriate photos on the covers. Close-ups.

No more showings until he was out!

But, even worse - "The Pooper".

He was in a low-rent motel before moving into the rooming house I used to have.

He spoke intelligently, said he'd be closer to grocery store he could walk to, etc.

Clearly he had a homeless mindset, didn't work well in this housing environment.

He smeared poop EVERYWHERE. Mattress, floor, dresser, walls, belongings that needed to be bagged & trashed. Never seen anything like it - and hope I never do again.

Clearly, he was a couple tacos short of a combo platter.

Thank fully, at the time, I had a lady I could hire who was a "tough old broad" : ) and she got right in there with gloves & took care of it.

We also bought a house at auction. We were familiar with the house. It was a house in the neighborhood and we got to see the inside of the house before the auction because we first approached them to try to save their credit and they were amenable at that time.

Although the house itself wasn't all that clean, the house was in decent shape. Hardwood floors, buffets and artificial fireplace, a real 1920's beauty.

After getting the keys and papers from the bank, we walked into the place to find the former owners had taken open cans of paint and hoisted them up, all over the ceiling, buffet, fireplace and mantle , woodwork and hardwood floors. One entire bedroom had thick hand prints where the kids were allowed to put their hands in the paint and then on the walls. The prints were thick requiring sanding the walls down.

It is amazing when people that lose a place decide they will stick it to the next owner, or the bank.

Bought a repo place. I had walked thru it before hand. It was on a well so I checked the water pressure. Once I got the place there was no water at all. Hmm, seemed odd. Power to the pump still.

Old rotting Fish guts in the tub ranks pretty high.
