Following altercations at a party celebrating the end of Berkeley’s eviction moratorium Tuesday evening, the Berkeley Property Owners Association released a statement condemning the protests and voicing disappointment in the city of Berkeley and Berkeley Police Department’s response. “We condemn the actions of hostile dissidents who disrupted a private gathering at a local restaurant to intimidate, harass, and physically assault our members who are law-abiding small business owners,” read part of a statement, which was shared with SFGATE. I just don't understand why the powers that be extended all this for so long.
The LLs will most likely never get the back monies owed. The deadbeat tenants will most likely not get quality housing because of it either.

I don't know of any LLs on this forum who supported a moratorium this long. Can you clarify that, NE? Who do you mean? Lots of us have discussed repeatedly that it made no sense for it to go on this long. So, I'm very curious who "supported this" as you suggest.

I will say that I think the LLs involved in this very visible and public "party" were pretty dumb. Seriously -- like Salernitana said... SMART LLs know this is a business and went about their business filing for evictions when this happened. DUMB LLs celebrated in a publicly visible party that they should have known would rile people up. Sheesh.

Strange how someone can call later on this freedom of speech by the tenants?
In the most strictish form, I could understand trying to save a life. But dang - at some point that line has to cross. If you start out with " we are trying to flatten the curve", then you know this will be long and pro-longed. But at some point, it has to stop.....
