I have been using Grand Distinction from Menards in Satin sheen. It is not the best but I have been happy with it. --207.113.xxx.xxx |

Behr Marquee at Home Depot usually covers in 1 coat. Semigloss needs 2 coats. Not cheap though - about 52.00/g. I get 20% due to my buying history. See if you can get a ProRewards phone # from a local contractor. Cheaper Behr paints need 2 or more coats. --73.215.xxx.xx |

The best results come from preparation not paint. smooth out door handle bumps and other bruises - seal and prim these areas 2-3 times - many times I see July 4th Sherwinn sale 25-40 percent off, I only use semigloss as it is easier for tenants to cleanup things, I hire people to use rollers but basements and garages now get the graco 500 sprayer in 5 gal pails - it is great in those areas but I have not yet used it on interior rooms - some here have, I am concerned about the overspray on windows, I get lots of cardboard boxes for basement floors, furnaces-water tanks, with shipping tape it works well and toss it all out when done - you must clean out the pump and spray gun before anything reaelly dries out. keep a pail of soapy water ready before you shoot th paint. Caulk trim seams - pull never push caulking. --184.59.xxx.xx |

I'll second Sherwin Williams. Set up an account and they will deliver to you after a phone order. Try that with HD/Lowes .... --198.168.xx.xxx |

I have great results with Glidden Premium - not the cheaper varieties.
Two coats is usual, unless you're covering the same color.
If there are streaks, I suspect it may be the application process. --68.229.xxx.xxx |

We use Behr i300 pro in an eggshell finish. Its an off white and flat enough to hide imperfections, just a little sheen to be able to wipe clean easier. All one color. If you have a dark spot or stains that may come through just use a stain blocker primer on those spots or walls. Kilz oil primer does the job. If it is running or streaking the humidity may be too high when you are applying it. Run the AC or a dehumidifier --73.135.xx.xxx |

I like Behr Premium Plus. It seams to be very durable and less coats. Best to be sure and stir the paint very thoroughly before applying. This could be your streaking problem. --73.190.xxx.xxx |

Baman,
Whichever covers in one coat and is convenient to buy.
Pay a few bucks extra to avoid the time of a second coat esp when outside on a ladder!
Paint on walls is a disposable item. It just has to be redone every so often no matter what you use.
We mostly use the middle grade Valspar because we are already in Lowes for other stuff and it is close, HD is not.
SW sometimes because they deliver and I negotiated a discount for our association members - good nationwide.

Sherwin Williams. Please set up an account to be able to call in your "landlord white" and semi-gloss interior trim.
Paint tips:
a) Paint is nothing more than colored glue. The surface has to be clean, prepped, and primed.
b) Painting latex over old oil based paints requires an oil based primer.
c) Never paint over mold, mildew, or algae. Wash and sanitize the surfaces.
d) Oily greasy surfaces have to be first washed.
e) Scrape, caulk, prime, and then put on the desired finish color glue.
f) Interior painting should always have adequate ventilation for drying of paint and cleanliness of your lungs.
g) Wear gloves.
h) Rinse and wash your latex paint brush every two hours while painting, to extend it's useful life. I'm using twenty year old brushes still today.
i) Drips and spatters must be cleaned up as soon as you see them. These are called "painters holidays" if left to dry. A good painter doesn't take a holiday in the middle of a job. --184.57.xxx.xx |
