Should be banned. If you need any convincing, look up on youtube "district 3B" which is in MIchigan. They are still holding court via zoom which is absolutely ridiculous. Technical issues abound, lots of time wasting, continuances, etc. No wonder the comments are turned off!! --64.246.xxx.xx |

I guess I don't see the problem? I watched a couple of the District 3B landlord/tenant cases just now and it seemed fine. Couple of small technical glitches with people not unmuting their phones here and there, but I've seen worse problems with microphones in the actual courthouse here!
Also, our in-person court is full of time wasting, continuances, and so on anyhow.
You sure do seem to get riled up about a lot of crap that really isn't a problem, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.
I'd rather live a happy life than look for things to complain about.

Our local courts have been back in person for a long time, but they still allow remote access. In practice this is good, if resident says 'I can't come in person that day' the court may ask them to call in anyway. --104.255.xx.xxx |

I like zoom appearances. Zoom appearances save me about two hours for a local court -- travel time to the court (plus lots of extra time in case of traffic and for parking, and the security lines at the courthouse) plus travel time after court. The actual time waiting for the matter to be heard is the same. --71.38.xxx.xx |

Have not had a zoom meeting here for evictions. What I have had is the defendant being able to call in instead of showing up while I did not have that option.
That does not seem right. I listened to a case that was before mine where the defendant called in. Said she was sick. Snotting and coughing the entire time until the judge said he was siding with the plaintiff. Then suddenly she was cured... and angry... and started yelling about it not being fair and all that.
I have things to do. I would rather not be in court at all. That is part of the obligation tho, so I do it. I just wish the deadbeats had to as well, so the judge could see what was going on with them.
Zoom might help that, but again I have never had the opportunity. --107.147.xx.xxx |
