After the provincial election in Alberta the Conservatives came back with a majority government where the Left wing Socialist Democratic was not elected as people remember the last time they were in power. So in the end Provinces that do not have rent control rents are lower along more building of new purposed built rental units of all types. In school was taught over and over again about supply and demand where supply goes down the prices go up plain and simple. The left wing believes there should be no private sector rental housing where they expropiate all the private sector by bankrupting. There is a reason why government owned rental units are not under rent control as rent control is unworkable.. Alberta for example is the most free market economy in Canada along with lowest taxes. Some call it the Texas of Canada. What needs to happen is more rentals need to be built then the market forces come in. Most of the government funded left wing tenancy advocate groups do not even represent .010 per cent of the population where if turned over a rental complex to them it would be like a Cinderella story where maximum 6 months would be bankrupt. The reactionaries keep talking about evictions where that does not represent 2 per cent of the population. Here the majority of evictions are for unpaid rent. I remember here many rental housing providers applied for a above guideline increase in order to repair, renovate apartment buildings where it was 2 per cent not 100 per cent.
