Alarm system worked great at 3:00am this morning; three guys in a Uhaul broke in one of my homes but ran out in a hurry when the alarm went off. SO was great and responded in minutes and are looking for them. Cameras are ok for a record of what happened but Simplesafe saved the new appliances. --2.59.xxx.xx

I love my set up, base station and two motion sensors. I have the base station next to a window so the alarm sound is heard outside. --99.23.xxx.x

I set mine up at my storage site.

The house proper is where I keep the base station. I put it upstairs so they can't get to it in a hurry and smash it. By a window. Makes plenty of noise.

I have a motion sensor in the barn, which is not attached. If they kick that door in they will not even hear the siren. I need to work thru that, but all in all I am happy with the set-up.

I have no wifi at this place so no cameras.

As an after thought it might be better to get wifi so I can see what is happening and maybe explain it to the dispatcher for the police. Place is packed full. Would be a thief's wet dream.

Now I need to start hardening the windows and doors without drawing attention. --107.147.xx.xxx

Zero, If you need a camera try a game camera with cellular service. I left the back window unlocked hopping anyone would try it first as I did not want them to break it. It is a slider that took me six months to order. --2.59.xxx.xx

Kevin,

Have been using and subscribing to Spypoint for a few years now. I love it. But it isn't video and it isn't tied to an alarm that sounds.

It is stationed at my empty places during rehab. I pay for unlimited pics per month and set it to take double shots with a short burn time between. Found an adapter to plug into it that works so no battery consumption. I still have the battery pack in case I put it where I have no electricity. --107.147.xx.xxx

James,

SimpliSafe to the rescue! Glad it worked!

(Umm...Not to burst your bubble but...you know the police are not really spending time trying to track down some petty thieves don't you...)
