For a bathroom of 8 ft x 8ft what kind of vent fan would you recommend. I was looking at Panasonic lighted bathroom fan for about $300. It says 110 CFM. Is it a overkill. Thanks.

I think we are paying about $100 for a good fan for a rental bathroom... with wifi and a light. --172.59.xx.xx

I like the panasonic fans - yes, they're an upgrade, but they work forever and are super quiet. I buy the panasonic fans on ebay for about 1/3 of retail. I have two remodels coming up and already bought 2 fans for those projects. --108.201.xx.xx

I have 3 Panasonic fans in my home. One of them is making a terrible racket starting this week, and I will need to replace it.

So they DON'T work forever.

Wire it together with the light so that it always goes on when the bathroom is in use. --73.141.xxx.xxx

Panasonic is a higher end brand 110cfm is a mid sized unit so probably a little overkill for an 8x8 bathroom but CFM isn't the primary factor that drives up the price, it's how loud it runs and how many devices are included (light, heat, fan). With that price I assume it is one of the quieter ones. Sound is rated by sones with 4 being high (loud TV) and 1 being about the level of a running refrigerator. I would bet for $300 it's probably a 1/3 a sone or less and the integrated light/fan make it more expensive.

I usually just get a panasonic with the vent fan only for about $130 and put a vanity light above the sink on smaller bathrooms. There's really no need for a 2nd light near the shower in such a small space. The cost is cheaper and the lights on the integrated units are not bright enough for the whole bathroom so you are going to be putting in a vanity light anyway. --209.205.xxx.xx

The fan cfm rating is adequate for your tenants. At 110 cfm the airflow noise will be quite low. --184.57.xxx.xx
