I want to contact the owner of vacant land located next to my residence and ask if they want sell it. I googled their name and address in hopes of finding their phone number, but they have a very common name. Please advise, how I can contact them without revealing my address? --172.58.xx.xx

If you write them, just give a phone number in the letter, and no return address. Or use a friend's POB ? or just put a note on their door with your phone number. They may already be aware of who owns the proeprty next to them,,, YOU and your name cause they looked you up as Ed (CA) wrote. Just curious why you don't want them to know who is inquiring ?? --172.59.xx.xxx

I want to buy the property next to mine. Run down trailer, couple useless outbuildings. But it is on 5 acres and has a well and septic. well is fine, septic works but might not pass. I definitely let the owner know I was interested. I call him about once a quarter.

He doesn't want to sell even tho they moved out a year or so ago. My next call is going to explain that they won't pay taxes if they sell before the clock runs out.

Plan is I pay cash and cover all closing. Under market is my goal.

If you let them know you are close they might consider it more. --107.147.xx.xxx

Thank you all for your replies. Before posting this discussion I obtained the owner's name and address from the county assessor's office, however they would not provide their phone number.

I don't want the owners to know I own next door because they'll think they should charge more for it. I want to buy it so no one builds next to me, Plus it would increase the value of my property.

Zero, I will be telling them they will be saving property taxes if they sell to me and I will offer them cash and to cover all closing costs. Thank you for your suggestions.

I will find out if I can mail a letter without my return address and only provide my phone number. Thank you all for your help!

I don't know about charging you more, I was thinking, that if they know you live next door that it is a serious buyer and not one of the dozens of "offers" received by mail each week from the we buy houses crowd. Those offers go straight into the trash without any consideration.

Don't be expecting to steal it from them. You can hope for a bargain, but if you put them in the mod to sell and you won't pay fair market, they might list it with an agent and then you will end up with a house next to you. --76.178.xxx.xxx
