I just remodeled a bathroom and used 12x36 tiles for the wall. Less labor to install and less grout lines to fail in the future. Brad is right, have them use the wedge clips to lay it. The larger tiles look terrible if the edges and corners are not aligned properly. --209.205.xxx.xx

it takes 55 12 inch tiles to make a tub surround, less grout but hard to cut the holes for handles, have done many this way over th years, use a handheld grinder with a diamond wheel to plunge cut the holes from the backside, I used to be crafty and made window sills - corner shelves all from floor tiles, also covered homeadewoodenshower seats for my handicap houses --184.59.xxx.xx

I worked for an actress making $20,000 a week on a sitcom show. I told her NOT TO PUT FLOOR TILES ON THE WALL IF THAT SURFACE IS ONLY DRYWALL OR GREEN BOARD. Drywall is soft crap that cannot sustain multiple impacts against the tile surface. With 5 kids in the home. Yes, you can use floor tile on walls but wouldnt put wall tile on floors. Labor should be the same regardless. The wall tile is easier to install. Wall tile works better on shower walls. More but much smaller grout joints. This allows you to use an non-sanded grout which is less pores, a harder, more dense grout joint. Easier to keep clean. --135.26.xxx.xxx

You can put floor tiles on walls, but you cannot put wall tiles on floors. Bigger tiles cover the wall faster, less grouting, too. One thing I noticed is that naturally floor tiles tend to have a rougher surface than many wall tiles. That's great when you are stepping on them with wet feet, so as not to slip. However, on a shower wall the rougher surface holds soap scum more than a slick surface like subway tile. --73.141.xxx.xxx

Wall tiles are smoother where very slippery when wet where floor tiles have a little grain. Recently done a bathroom along with kitchen wall where using large size porcelain tiles where less cutting along easier cleaning as less joints. Recommend porcelain tiles are porcelain is stronger along thicker where less likely to break.
