All HVAC equipment has life expectancy where it may time to look at installing high efficiency split heat pumps which can used for heating and cooling all year round. Upgrqding insulation along with new Low E windows will reduce the heat loss and heat gain all year round. Higher efficiency units use a variable speed compressor which uses less power along less wear and tear on system. Other than soldering where corrosion may have weakened all copper fittings. Net zero buildings are the future where a HVAC is not required at all as the building is super insulated and air tight. While it may not be possible to put off replacement. The nice feature about split heat pumps it is modular system where one unit can be fixed or swapped out at time.In the meantime can keep existing furnace then later on replace with a high efficiency gas furnace then vent directly through the wall without using a chimney where combustion is brought in outside then combustion gases are vented through the wall. --74.220.xxx.xxx |
