Darn!

Right AFTER I cut the hole for the sink, it has a chip on the edge.

The front edge, of course (eye roll).

Kind of doubting I can find the exact same sink to fit the hole.

It's an oval, drop-in bathroom sink.

So.... who knows the best stuff to fill/repair a white porcelain chip?

Maybe better to leave it & hope it's not noticed, rather than do a poor repair that doesn't matched & is more obvious?

Sheesh! It couldn't be before I cut the hole!

Oval drop in bathroom sinks are not that hard to find. I have two in my pile right now.

Check Habitat or a local refurb store. And check Marketplace. I bet you can find another one PDQ. --69.80.xx.xxx

DJ,

Bummer.

Is this a one-off purchase from an odd supplier? Or recycled?

I have never been able to properly touch up porcelain to not look touched up.

This will bug you every time you see it.

Me? Bite the bullet and redo.

Heard this advice years ago: You’ll forget what you paid for the nice suit but will remember forever the EXACT price you paid for the suit you won’t wear.

Best thing I've found is finger nail polish. It relatively hard like porcelain, shiny like porcelain, and comes in lots of colors for a good match. --209.205.xxx.xx

Rustoleum white enamel paint may work. Try dabbing it on with a paper towel and then follow up with more coats as necessary --87.249.xxx.xx

Thanks for the ideas

It's a previously-used sink.

The chip is up out of the caulk line.

The new one I bought is a different shape - round rather than oval - and doesn't fit the hole right.

I'm going to see if I can find one with different dimensions - wish me luck, I'll need it!

Otherwise, I'm still not sure which way to go --68.229.xxx.xxx

Start over w a new vanity w the sink ad a unit. They can be a reasonable 200 or so if you check the floor models at the box store, and say less at a restore. At a restore there should also be dozens of oval sinks. I'm surprised you had to drill for the faucet?

Sparky, a stainless steel Bathroom sink, is it from a prison? --172.58.xxx.xx

Thanks, everybody

small pot - to clarify, it is a 36" sink in a (approx) 42-43" wide space.

So, I'm using a 36" base & custom-made the top to provide more countertop space & space below for a trash can. The counter also matches the kitchen counter. Screwed to the vanity and built in place, so not easy (& don't want) to jut redo it.

The hole I cut was for installing the whole sink, not just a faucet.

I have ordered a sink online that appears to be the right dimensions - or at least really close. It should arrive Monday, right after I get back from convention.

DJ,

I have a Restore not far from me. If your new sink doesn't fit get me the dimensions and I can take a look for one. --107.147.xx.xxx
