I need 4 kitchens installed that are roughly 10 x 10. This is new construction and will basically involve hanging the cabinets on the walls. How much is reasonable to pay? I got a quote of $ 1400 a kitchen ($ 5600 total) which seems excessive. A friend and I put in a kitchen a couple of years ago and it took a day to hang the cabinets and another day for the countertops. I may have to go that route again if I can't get this done cheaper. I'm figuring it should be about half of that. Thoughts?

Assuming the cabinets were in the unit, unboxed, and ready to install, and the countertops were pre-cut then a good handyman can have the cabinets and countertops installed in one day per unit and take a 3 hour lunch break (I'm being generous with the time). 8 hours X $50 per hour X 4 units should be $1600 total. Even if they have to unbox cabinets and cut the tops and iron the end pieces that would add another day at most so $2000.
I would shop around at the prices you were quoted or tell him the most you can do is $2000 total, take it or leave it. --74.194.xxx.xxx |

If base of cabinet is good condition and cabinet doors are wood then it is possible to paint along with installing new handle and countertop where the kitchen looks like brand new. Some smaller cabinet places will make new kitchen cabinet doors. Less waste and easy DIY job. --74.220.xxx.xxx |

explain 10 x 10?
Normally the upper and lower are different sizes.
If these are off the shelf don't use the press board. the 2 big box stores have a better wood type that don't chip. Box - 4 cabinets run about 250 to 300 each.
We did a whole kitchen 10 to 11 cabinets made by a contractor for HD. Cost 2000.00. counter tops were 500.00 but you said you only have uppers to do.
Hang the ledger board-- mark the studs on the sheet rock and put up yourself. --108.239.xx.xx |
