Can we use Pergo Defense+ in a bathroom with tub/shower?

We will have enough from the bedroom floors to go into the two bathrooms, but want to make sure it's not just "steam mop safe" but that it will last a few years in the bathrooms of a rental house

we were looking into vinyl, but life would be easier if we could finish off the Pergo, which matches the bedrooms and hall. --50.194.xxx.xx

We may go overboard, but we ONLY use solid vinyl plank in wet rooms.

And if we are replacing subfloors in those rooms, we only use pressure treated plywood or Plytanium.

Fix it once, forget it. --158.115.xxx.xxx

Might as well use the materials you already have. It will look good for a while, and then you can have time to plan to use something different later, if needed. It claims to be waterproof & great for kitchens & bathrooms.

If you don't trust their claim: To make it more water-resistant, try a small bead of clear silicone in each joint before you click-lock it together. Wipe off any that squishes out. --68.229.xxx.xxx

A better option is to install a Schluter ditra membrane then install a good quality of porcelain tile where in a rental it needs to be idiot proof. If the floor is concrete then can install tiles directly on floor. While more expensive upfront and more labour intensive the porcelain tiles will last a long time where easy to clean. For kitchens and bathrooms a good quality commercial grade porcelain tile where a lit cigarette or mess is never a issue. Seen many rental housing providers buy laminate flooring where it is a three years or less a landfill type of flooring. The objective with rentals is cleaning then renting without any delays as vacancy time costs money. Take a look at many commercial buildings like a hospital, school , airport where the flooring has to last. Only cheap stores use commercial vinyl flooring which is hard to clean then wears out. This week was in hospital for test where the hospital was 25 years old than only commercial grade flooring was every where. Ceramic flooring can chip where porcelain is much more durable. For a bathroom there are quite a few Habitat for Humanity restores where it is easy to buy tiles for bathroom. There is even porcelain that looks like wood grain. A good quality wet saw then can be installed.. You tube has videos on Schluter ditra membrane and installing ceramic or porcelain tiles. --74.220.xxx.xxx

can not tell you about Pergo Defense Plus. I can say that a dog dish in a kitchen caused regular Pergo to expand three times the height of the rest of floor. Since then, I stopped using Pergo. I love the look, but it didn't make sense. --24.101.xxx.xxx
