State Specific Question About: OREGON (OR)
I sold my property last year. I had to replace the fuse box. The name of the fuse box manufacturer was Pacific________. I can't recall the full name. I was prompted by the real estate agent to replace before I sold the property. Does someone know the full name? --71.63.xxx.xxx |

Oh lord yes. Federal Pacific…notorious for burning down properties around the world. Their breakers were notoriously faulty and many fires happened as a result. --172.56.x.xxx |

Just like fixing it before selling, make sure you never buy one - without the proper compensation to be able to fix it right away.
Don't let anyone move in before you do. --68.229.xxx.xxx |

Your RE Agent did you a big favor by telling you to replace the Federal Pacific box. --72.173.xx.xxx |

Just when I was cutting my teeth in the electrical trade these were being identified as trouble - 1978, I made some good money selling the removed breakers - till 1981, then the trade name -fire panel- took over the acronym, my daughter just found 4 buckets of them in my barn - off to the trash... --76.190.xxx.xxx |

I noticed you mentioned State Specific in your post George (OR). Actually its nationwide. There are 5 unsafe electrical panels to remember to change out or get compensation to change out when negotiating: Federal Pacific, Zinsco (GE-Sylvania), Challenger (Eaton), Pushmatic, and any fuse box types. They are difficult to insure too. I run into these all the time with older houses and condos and I'm in Fl nowhere near OR. --73.205.xxx.xx |

Vee that’s funny because one of the electrical contractors that I worked for in the 90s made a mint selling old federal pacific breakers. By then, they were far and few between. --71.63.xx.xx |

If I remember correctly Federal Pacific was made in New Jersey, the local power company installed them for several years, Square-D was made here in Cleveland Ohio until 1996 - I worked then at a company that re-purposed the building. --76.190.xxx.xxx |
