I need some advice regarding the labor cost for adding a stall shower to the existing powder room.

This involves:

Removing present sink and vanity and tiled floor.

Removing the existent front wall that has the door and extend it by two more feet to accommodate the pedestal sink.

Install the new stall shower.

Build the front wall and new door, ie., rebuild the bathroom to the size of 64 in x 92 in.

The present toilet will be undisturbed, and the shower drain will be diverted to the drain from the toilet after removing the tiled flooring.

Tiling the floor and rest of the wall.

Installing new pedestal sink, faucets, medicine cabinet, lights, painting.

The guy is a carpenter by training, one man company and has a plumber buddy to do the plumbing part. Appears confident of the work.

He said it may take a week or less and labor only $6000.00.

I will buy all the materials.

Is it a good price? Thanks.

According to the website BizStats, contractor pricing for labor is roughly twice the cost of materials for a general contractor project and three times the materials for a specialist. Your job requires a little bit of both.

How much are you planning on spending on materials? That labor number isn't super inflated, assuming you will be spending about $2,500 in materials. If you redo a tile floor, this job will be a bit nicer. Long gone are the days where I could simply multiple the fixtures times $900 and add the finish work --24.101.xxx.xxx

The estimated material cost would be about $3000.

Flooring will have new tiles throughout. --100.11.xxx.xxx

I have a bath I need to rehab. I would pay that for it to just be done so I could get tho the next project. --107.147.xx.xxx
