One of my older duplexes is coming available. An individual completed my Google form, so I emailed him.

Got this in response :

How open is your community?  My friends and I have frequent swinger parties which get pretty wild.  We often have upwards of 50 show up, some from out of town and all walks of life. I want you to know that a safe and accepting community is of utmost importance to me and any assurance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I really hope the guy is trolling me…..

I’m honestly rather dumbfounded --149.76.xxx.xx

Troll for sure. I would not respond, but as usually we can't guarantee anyone's safety and anyone's acceptance within a community. Their utmost importance is not mine - being up to code and occupancy etc is. --172.58.xx.xxx

I responded:

The home is about 520 sq Ft in a duplex, on a quiet street in town, that includes mostly senior citizens and graduate students. It is not an appropriate venue for parties. I’m pretty sure the police would be called by the neighbors.

If your statement is trolling me, I’m happy to show it to you later this week. If you are seriously looking for a place where you can have 50 of your closest friends visit for any sort of party, I suggest you save like crazy and purchase some acreage that will allow the activities you desire.

He actually responded:

thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Definitely do not want any trouble with the police. Seeing that my friends come from all walks of life, police interactions are to be avoided at all costs. Elderly neighbors are always nosy and problematic. I have had issues with them in previous living situations. They are such a buzz kill!! This is exactly why I reached out to you and was upfront about my concerns. Your community and my lifestyle do not seem to be compatible. Thanks for the advice on saving for acreage but in all honesty, my philosophy is that life is too short to save money. I'd rather party hard and enjoy my time however long or short that may be! With all that said, I will continue my search elsewhere. If you have any other recommendations then please share them with me. Thank you and God bless!

Definitely a strange one! Not my problem!

Not too worried about it.

I do actually know someone who is involved in some unusual lifestyle activities. The host for their parties owns 50 acres and hosts on their private compound. They showed me photos of the barn he built for the parties. --149.76.xxx.xx

Will the neighborhood tolerate a large frequent parties? One of my Resident had a large family with large gathering for holidays, Birthday parties and etc. Having an alternative lifestyle it is the gathering that is the problem. Will you get calls about parking, noise, and traffic? --68.45.xx.xxx

Maybe I am the "off" one here, but I would be thankful they were upfront and honest about things and you didn't find out after they were in the unit.

And as RB said... Different strokes for different folks. Party on Wayne, Party on Garth (just not in my unit :) --71.28.xxx.xxx

Barb how did you get part of your answer removed from the post? I thought once you post it's locked in?

Anyway! what did they say to your inquiry about going to their place? I see the part about the size is to small! I missed the answer about you coming to them.

Ray's answer is best, except I would add that any illegal activity or not being a good neighbor is not allowed, according to the rental agreement. --68.229.xxx.xxx

Several years ago a house in my general area went for sale. It had been used for this type purpose and the photos showed it prior to being cleaned out. It was in a very nice, upscale neighborhood and the neighbors complained about parking, noise, etc. Apparently, the folks attending were well off financially according to the neighbors.

Personally, I was confused about some of the photos and the "furnishings"!! --98.237.xxx.xx
