out,

Any reason for a propane pilot light to just go out? It has seemed to have done that. Easy to relight at my previous house where I had a propane stove, but I'm not comfortable to have a tenant do anything with gas,

Hurts to have a service guy go out for such an easy thing at about a 150 dollar service call but maybe best to pay it to cover myself. --96.236.xxx.xx

My first guess would be the tenant let the tank run out --74.77.xx.xx

Consider replacing stove with newer stove where new gas stoves have spark ignition for burners and glow bar for oven. The more expensive gas stoves have spark ignition for oven as well. Some propane tank have pressure gauges where if not have a pressure gauge installed to rule out there is propane. Basically a gas stove can be converted to propane by changing orifice around or using a different diameter orifice as the pressure of propane is higher then natural gas. Seen many natural gas stoves at the Habitat for Humanity restore where people take out natural gas stove then go back to electric. Safety there always where tenants fail to realize the importance of using all appliances safely. Some areas natural gas becomes available where people switch out to natural gas as the cost is considerably less to operate. Also check with propane company. --68.69.xxx.xxx

You could learn and spend a few bucks and get a Set of 10 Cleaning Needles, brushes and a low powered air compressor. You turn off the gas. Clean out the pilot orifice holes. If that doesn't work, with some open box wrenches you loosen the pilot tubing and blow it out with some low pressure air. Buy a book and learn. Then you will save $150. Then test the tubing for leaks with soapy water.

Or you can call the gas company if you have a gas provider and sometimes for free they will diagnose and fix a small issue. --47.149.xxx.x

Can't imagine anyone with a standing pilot anymore. Electronic ignition all the way!

Another vote for tenant let the gas run out. --64.246.xxx.xx

We've had to just replace igniters. Get the model # of the stove and go to an appliance parts site to search the model number for parts. Get your igniter part number and buy it there (or off Amazon-usually cheaper). Go to YouTube university for instruction on how to replace the part. If this sounds like way too much..probably best to call the repairman. It would be too much for me but me and hubby together..easy. --64.184.xx.xx
