Thanks to advice given, hubby and I attended our first bunny show. A perfect introduction as I understand it was a small specialized show of Polish rabbits. Next show is a 3 day in Jefferson, WI so we'll choose one of the days that are open to all breeds to get to hone in on the breed I think I want. I was surprised to find how I loved this breed; in person vs you tube is a world of difference. We were able to interact with several baby bunnies and adults, as well as spend the day with the wonderful breeder and her family from Wausau, WI. Their rabbits were winning various categories.

I'm SO enjoying distancing myself from the properties a bit. I did a preliminary poll of my current tenants to see if any are leaving as I have someone interested in renting from us. Responses came in within a day. None have plans to move. Things can change, but for now I am breathing a sign of relief and dreaming of bunnies...

My farm is overrun with bunnies. Bet, I could get you 100K of them. Bunnies are strange! Every once in a while they have a massive bunny convention and run in circles about 30 to 40 feet wide. I have seen this twice and also once after a major snow storm, the snow was pristine except for bunny prints as far as the eye could see. --216.23.xxx.xx

Oh, so good to hear! I was thinking of you today; wondering if you had made a decision yet.

Yep, bunnies are a wonderful break from rentals. --70.92.xxx.xxx

I knew nothing about bunny's until my friend a dog trainer showed me her prize bunny. Her bunny listens better than her husband of kids. It does a few things on command. One bunny was trained to go outside and fetch the news paper. Not the Sunday thick version, but a light weight weekly issue. --47.149.xxx.x

BUSY: I've got my eyes on Netherland dwarfs watching them on youtube, but never saw them in person. So this next show will be helpful. They are 1-2# smaller than the Polish we saw today. Hubby thinks he Polish ones are the perfect size.

In the end, the personality will likely determine what I get.

ROBT: They are really smart animals as well as lovable. Very trainable, they know their names and so curious. Our wild backyard rabbits were obsessed with my ipad, almost posing for the videos I took of them.

LANA: The wild rabbits in our yard did the running in circles shenanigans. One seemed to do it as a territorial gesture, letting the other rabbit know he was angry at his presence; the other rabbit appeared unphased. There was also some kicking up of hind legs.

Other times I've seen the circle run seemed playful and out of pure joy, with some hopping involved in the run.

So unpredictable, I think that's what I love about them. Robt you have me deciding what to train mine to do. --75.11.xx.xx

The book, Velveteen Rabbit, , is spot on about their dancing and circling behavior. --70.92.xxx.xxx

The few wild bunnies here when I was a kid, did the circles and jumps during mating season. Mom said that's why anyway. They farmed in the 1920s. Not bunnies. I find them scary since I heard their backs can break from improper handling. I have a Maltese here, rescue, and I call him Funny Bunny when he is hopping around. --71.188.xx.xxx

The only rabbits I've raised were to eat and I didn't find them all that charming and they are stinky. If I wanted a rabbit a pet, I would look into the rex rabbits because I like the way the fur looks and feels. --76.178.xxx.xxx
