Vee--Fortunately, most tenants just leave them permanently open! Here is my tip: do not use the supplied knobs. I had a tenant that used it as a hook for handbags and hung so much weight on it that she pulled the bifold louvered doors apart. Instead, I use a D shaped pull---you cannot hang anything on it. --73.141.xxx.xxx |

Was just in one of the few places left with bi-fold doors. Tenant leaves them open all the time. These lead to laundry area. I left them at last rehab for sound issues.
While standing talking to the plumber I had to hire I noticed that one of the doors was missing the roller for the track. They had broken it and that is fine. As long as they don't try to have me replace it I will get rid of them when the time comes.
These are just hollow core wood doors. I would never get a mirrored one for a rental. --107.147.xx.xxx |

I actually like the mirrored ones for my little WWII 900-1000 sf'ish houses. They do a good job of making a room look bigger and brighter. And they definitely give me less problems than the louvered bifolds.
I do have one house where one of their kids (presumably) threw a shoe at the mirrored closet door and smashed the mirror. I was not impressed. Several years later, I had the husband half of a divorcing couple decide to smash one of his mirrored closet doors with his fist.
But everyone else has been able to coexist with them pretty well. --137.118.xx.xxx |

I have a brother-in-law with issues like your divorced couple idiot.
He once punched his first thru a luan door. All the way thru it. Then he couldn't get his arm pulled back because of the shards facing the wrong way.
