Good afternoon all. Another clog in Jersey.
A toilet seems to have a clog just past the drain pipe.
In order from toilet sink and shower (long time not in service) into a main which from another direction has clothes washer and kitchen sink. All the above go to the main.
The bathroom sink the kitchen and clothes washer seem to drain fine. The toilet swirls and fills the bowl right to the top. Using plunger gives suction for a moment then air.
I wanted to use a chemical, but the ones at big box land say not for toilets.
I'm thing toilet removal time then an auger
Suggestions please.

Recommend buying a plumbers grade auger at HD or Lowes. First can try with auger then may have remove toilet bowl then with auger push solid object back into bowl. Sometimes a toy or other solid object is in the bottom of bowl where can check with toilet auger. A good toilet will cost from $40 to $60 dollars where a plumber grade will be weigh more then the cheap domestic toilet augers. Sometimes the air vent has a obstruction which is going to cause drainage problems so that can not be ruled out until toilet clog is cleared. Sometimes a shop vac can be used where if stuck in bowl then will clear by putting bowl upside down then clearing out with auger. Also with toilet clear all the holes on top of the bowl as if blocked then performance of toilet will not work properly. Check with mirror. --68.69.xxx.xxx |

Before pulling toilet I would invest in a Rigid stool auger if you are planning on being the manager and maintenance guy. --199.200.xx.xx |

My vote is for pulling it. If it's not in the toilet you then have a clearer shot of getting to it in the pipes below. Had a plastic bottle stuck in mine. No way was that coming out so got new one and the plumber augered it outside and it was not moving. --71.188.xx.xxx |

my experience is -- use the auger- the kind made for toilets that don't scratch the porcelain. If that doesn't work pull the toilet and check underneath for something like a toy or decorative object from the back of the toile that may have fallen into the toilet. If that doesn't work-- take it outside and break the S neck of the toilet and see what it is but have the new H-depot and new seal kit ready.
I have on several occasions broken the neck and found things-- took pictures and billed the tenant. --108.239.xx.xx |

I had a similar problem on our hallway toilet. The toilet had been in there for many years. That toilet was the only drain that was not draining well. I had a company come in and they pulled the toilet and couldn't find anything in the drain which would cause the problem. They recommended that we replace the toilet which we did. The new toilet resolved the problem. So sometimes, the toilet itself is the problem. --99.165.xx.xxx |

The Rigid toilet auger usually clears up most of the clogs where object logged in the trap the toilet will flush where not drain well. A blocked plumbing stack will also cause problems. Cleaning the jets under bowl along making the siphon jet is not clogged will also cause problems. Toilets rarely fail where the jets under rim of bowel can easily be cleaned. --68.69.xxx.xxx |

Had a slow toilet issue. I tried to remedy it to no avail. Back then I worked on clogs for tenants.
Had a plumber come in and he could run his snake thru it but it was slow to flush. Finally pulled the stool and looked in the drain. Nothing there.
Turned stool over and stuck in the bend was a shower head. Took him forever to get it out. I still don't know how the tenant got it lodged that far in without something breaking.
Oh and this wasn't a little shower head. Like I mentioned, the thing took forever to get it pushed thru the rest of the bend.
If it were to happen today, I would replace the stool and then deal with the problem to save time and money. --107.147.xx.xxx |
