Had an under-slab leak on a SFH. One of our better places. Called out the locator man-- not sure that was necessary but thought maybe quick find-- nada.
Lucky it was hot side from water heater to under kitchen sink. Ran new line from garage under kitchen cabinets to get the bad segment isolated. 3.5 hrs but needed plumber in case we had to jackhammer slab.
Great crew and since I'm outta town (cruising) no worries.

Seems you lucked out. Under slab leaks can be tricky. Even a professional with a locator and goof on the location of where a leak originates since water migrates. Was your underground old pipe galvanized or copper? Are you going to have to replace at some point all of the underground piping or was this just a bad spot. --47.156.xx.xx |

We had a hot water underslab leak - plumber came multiple time and couldn't find it. So DH just abandoned it all and replumbed with PEX inside the walls.
My brother had his fail twice. And a third time, sad to say, on the day of his funeral.
In-slab plumbing seems like one of those old "good ideas at the time" gone bad with age and bad execution... --50.82.xxx.xxx |

Same goes for plumbing in old mobile homes. Aside from the old butyl pipes that get brittle, the main lines were run in the underfloor area and when it leaks, it messes up the bellyboard and can last some time before it is discovered. In the northern areas, it is easily frozen, especially if the bellyboard has any holes in it (from leaks or from critters). It's much easier to abandon it all and run new pex inside and then juse nuild a soffit around the lines(a few 2x4's do a good job - paint and it's done). --75.7.xx.xx |

We've learned from experience to isolate in the order of pressure connections. Robert this was cooper 3/4 and only 20 yrs old. The water cheater is in the front of garage and the pipe went under the slab FIRST connection we caped and turned water back on and was still leaking so we knew it was between garage and under slab at sink. Lucky we ran new 3/4 on front wall into and behind cabinets. Was a straight shot and VERY lucky. We're wrapping g it with heat tape in garage area --66.133.xx.xx |

Ray PA yes it can and has. Keep in mind b d Ray our builders don't build to PA insulation codes.
We've had many busted pipes over the years.
We do a prevent notice call when temps predicted to get below 25.
