When my oldest went out on her own I bought her things like toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies and provided a little tool box.
She was just getting started and was in one of my rentals.
Now I have things like light bulbs, batteries for smoke detectors, maybe a gift card for a night out or for pantry items.
All depends on how far along they are in life as to what they might need. She has been away from home for a few years now but is buying her first home so other things will crop up I'm sure. --107.147.xx.xxx |

All my kids and grandkids are getting handheld label makers this year (I always do multiple group gifts, it's easier and no fighting [my kids are in their 30-40's haha) Included will be extra label tapes.
Good phone cables are always useful and appreciated, as Salernitana [CA] suggested, as well as smaller wall plugs to keep in a purse or a backpack. Knowing my kids, they will label them first thing LOL!

Portable lithium batteries for phone charging.
Last year I bought all my grown kids GooLoos. Lithium battery jump starters. Compact, light, and stay charged for months. Can also be used to charge phones, run flashlights, etc.
New smoke detectors. They should be replaced every ten years.
Fire extinguishers for the kitchen and garage.
Security cameras and locks.
Ammo.
Beef jerky. Preferably the fresh stuff from Buc-ee's!
Steak seasoning.
Folding razor knives.

plug in polarity testers with the GFI tripper button, packs of AAA/AA batteries, non contact voltage tester, those blue Hercules tool bags from harbor freight, a wad of zip ties, the small 65 lumen two AAA LED flashlights from harbor freight, shotgun shells/ammo, driver bit sets, little airplane size vodkas, surfwax, name brand duct tape like Gorilla, phone charging cords...and some of those wall plugs with USB ports built in. when i'm president the guy that invented them gets a holiday! a nice set of heavy jumper cables is a great gift. --75.80.xx.xx |

Good pair of kitchen drawer scissors. Wine bottle opener, beer bottle opener, pizza cutter, tongs. ( Tongs work best when you clack them twice before using, btw.) Flashlight. Small pliers, roll of masking tape, roll of Scotch tape, permanent marker.
Those are things that are kept in my kitchen drawer with the six in one screwdriver. Well, the cooking items are in separate drawers.
Mike in CA's list is a good one. Think I might add zip ties, polarity/ GFCI tester, and a wall plug with USB outlet to my far-away kids' Christmas box. My local kid has half of my tools in her garage anyway, lol! --70.92.xxx.xxx |
