Unlike many or most, I still do a lot of my own repairs. Today I bought a Milwaukee Air Snake to clear clogged drains. My properties are old and many have convoluted plumbing. It must have been amusment for old plumbers to see if they can put 20 feet of pipe with a dozen turns in a 10 foot run. Has anyone tried the Air Snake with success. I will know tomorrow if it works on a problem sink in one of my rentals.

As in pressurized air instead of a metal snake?

My plumber did that once - blew the clog right out.

Pretty amazing.

If it's the same thing, as I suspect - I think you'll like it.

I hope so! : ) --68.229.xxx.xxx

Another type of snake is hose that is connected to pressure washer where high jets will clear out clogs. Never tried where some plumbers have a professional type of snake. If already have good pressure washer then may work well. Had a ridged 800 serious snake where it took two or three tries to clear out a clogged main drain. It was important to keep water running when using a snake where as the drain was being clear out most of debris would go down. Those pressure type of snakes are sold on amazon. --68.69.xxx.xxx

STOP! Please read before using an AIR Drain Cleaning Device -- any make or model. CHEMICAL BURNS

The one thing in common when you ask your Tenant or Occupant of a rental, "Did you try any Drain Cleaner to Clear the Clog"? Most of the time they will say "NO"! Which some of the time if false, a lie of they didn't know what another occupant in the rental tried to clear the clog themselves.

So when you TRY TO USE your Air Drain Cleaner it could:

1) Have blow back from the sink's overflow hole into your face and or eyes. Or from the bathtub over flow cover.

2) Because most of you are NOT A LICENSED PLUMBER with Hundreds of hours experience using snaking devices:

Air Snake Heads may not seat on the drain propertly because:

a) the faucet spout is in your way so the Air Snake Can't seat properly and you will have fluid blow back on your hands, arms, body and face.

Robert makes some valid points which are covered by both the manual and common sense. The Milwaukee Air Snake has an angled head so that faucet interference is not an issue. It can be done safely without a plumber's license or hundreds of hours of experience. The tool is a bit pricey ($399) but I save at least $125 each time I solve an issue without calling my licensed plumber with hundreds of hours of experience. --172.93.xxx.xxx

Hello RichE, IL. You are correct if you buy the expensive model with all of the bells and whistles -- the angle attachment.

However online and at stores they have the plastic knock off from $39 to $89 DOLLARS which has only a few attachments to their air gun. No of which are good enough on a shallow sink with a now arch faucet -- straight spout.

I've had around 4 to 5 people who are handy that have tried the tool under my supervision. INSTEAD of allowing them to try it on the clogged sink, I have them go to another sink and the first few times they get blowback into their face, eyes and body/arms.

Had they tried this on the faucet with the clog and a pint of Drain"o", they would have been blind or have chemical burns on their face. --47.156.xx.xx

Well after clearing a sink and a tub I am a big fan of this tool. I started with 5 lbs. Of pressure and had to increase it by 5 lbs, until I hit 20lbs, but it cleared the line and now both sink and tub run like a champ. No leaks or blown out connections. --174.192.xxx.xxx

Thanks RichE,

Wish Dewalt made one as all my batteries are for that brand.

Still interesting tho, especially if I cleared drains for tenants. --107.147.xx.xxx

Just bought mine from Home Depot. Hoping to put it to good use right away! Many of the sellers advertised on the Milwaukee site are sold out. It seems like most of my local Home Depots have only one in stock. Very anxious to see how it works. Hopefully it won't blow out too many P-traps. --68.37.xx.xx
