With spending and big numbers,.. (please don't make this political) but its hard to wrap your head around these big numbers,

So some times examples help.

If you had a machine that would print you a dollar a second, it would take about 2 weeks to become a millionaire..

To become a billionaire that machine would take about 32 years to do it.

To make a trillion,. a number that seems to be thrown around more and more these days,..it would take a bit over 31,668 years.

When I was a child, over 50 years ago, driving in my parents car as a passenger, I heard on the AM radio that the City was expanding the Freeway system at a cost of $2,000,000 (Two Million Dollars) per mile.

I won't make it any more political than it has to be. A wise man I heard summed it up like this:

"Democrats are driving the US economy over a cliff at 100 mph. Republicans are driving the US economy over a cliff at 70 mph. If we go over the cliff, it won't matter since we'll hit bottom at the same speed, but one scenario has a little more opportunity to stop disaster before it happens."

The sad thing is, the reason both parties are driving the economy off a cliff is because we the people have demanded ever more goods and services from the public trough and somehow imagining that will work forever. We keep voting the same fools into office, then getting upset when they act like the fools we know them to be. And for some reason, our guy can do no wrong and the other guy can do no right so.... it is what it is.

There's a reason we keep a stockpile of a year's supply of food on hand and a ready method for obtaining potable drinking water. At some point, the music will stop. What is that point? No idea. But debating when the music will stop isn't the right thing to do: preparing for when the music stops is the right thing to do.
