I hate this “new” kind of mosquito here in Southern California. Any time they bite me, I get welts/wheals with an ever expanding red circle & I develop cellulitis etc. The first time it happened 2 years ago, I had to go to urgent care. We don’t have standing water anywhere, inside or outside. These things are low-flying and like my knees and ankles.
How can I kill them, kill them all, in & around my house? I don’t mind the regular skeeters but these ones are horrendous to me. My latest bite came from one that got inside the house! I never see them, until they’re gone and I start swelling.
Whenever I go out n the yard at night, I wear what looks like an odd beekeepers outfit, long slacks tucked into socks, long sleeved blouse, a hat and netting like what’s used for sewing wrapped around my head and face. I’ve also tried using those topical botanical sprays. I don’t care if they serve a purpose in a bigger scheme of things, I have lived most of my life without them.
I just want them dead. Thanks!

Put up some bat houses. Bats love to eat mosquitoes. --24.180.xx.xx |

Yikes! I've never heard of them - so sorry you have them.
I think Richard's idea is great - if bats are happy living in southern California. I don't know, but it would be worth some research. --68.229.xxx.xxx |

For about $100 on Amazon, you can get an electric mosquito fogger. Or you can go full Terminator and get a commercial grade gas powered backpack fogger and kill every freaking mosquito in your area. --107.141.xx.xxx |

It's only the females that suck the blood. Maybe put up a sign making the females not allowed to come onto your property.
If you fog, or spray even, make sure you get under the leaves of any trees in the area. They like to nest in there. Cooler and more moist. Bats are a good idea as long as you don't have an aversion to the guano. There are many smaller birds that eat them all day as well.
Buy your neighbors a bug zapper. They will think you are being nice but it helps to pull the critters over there in the wee hours. --107.147.xx.xxx |
