Lots o' folks moved to Florida in the last few years - and no real storms over the last few years...
Now there's a big one coming. Probably a Cat 2, could be a Cat 3 (right now it's projected to be ONE mile slower than a Cat 3!)
Widespread power outages, ground saturation already high so any amount of rain is going to be a problem...
Better get prepared, Florida peeps! --74.110.xxx.xx |

Yes, I'm taking what will be Hurr. Hermine seriously, but I'm not panicking since I've been through a storm or two in my time!
I'm stocking up on water and non-perishable food, filling up the gas tank in my vehicle, & making plans for my mother & her dog to ride out the storm with me at my place. We are in Orlando and it is a possibility that the storm will come right over the city. --50.30.xx.xxx |

Robin, my tenants son is driving a truck down there for a sports equipment exposition. He is going to Orlando on Saturday AM. This thing is supposed to be at the coast on Tuesday. Maybe it could veer off to east? Any indications? --71.188.xx.xxx |

Ally, the weather forecasters say that we will know for sure on Sunday where the storm is going to go. But last I heard is that it is expected to make landfall in SW FL around Wednesday morning.

Thanks Robin. I told her maybe she needs to speak to him about what you said. Also called my cousin who has a ski and scuba shop up here and has driven down your way many times with people and equipment. He also said they should contact the exhibition hall to see what they are going to do. --71.188.xx.xxx |

I've always said "you pay for all that nice weather." Yes we have snow storms and blizzards here but we usually don't get hurricanes, twisters, mudslides and floods. --72.231.xxx.xx |

Right now we are at the center of impact near Anna Maria Island if it doesn’t change. Web information was good; Nat hurricane center was useless with information until today. If it goes a little west Tampa & St Pete is screwed. We have three homes to put up shutters then hang on. 6am at home depot this morning was quiet tomorrow it will be wild. Last storm you could not find a tapcon of flashlight anywhere. --47.202.xxx.xx |

Hollis, a Cat 2 is very very serious storm. In all the storms I've been in over the past decade or so in NC, we have never had a direct hit from a Cat 2 where I am. None have even directly hit us as a Cat 1. But after the storms a few years ago where we got close, I would NEVER stay if more than a Cat 1 is predicted. --74.110.xxx.xx |

Hurricane area people doing their usual hurricane thing. Waiting until 3 hours before the storm hits and then rushing out and filing the gas tank and buying plywood to board up the windows. Waiting until after the hurricane to try to find ice and bread and searching for a generator.
I find the behavior a bit puzzling. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

Yet another reason that I am glad that I sold Dad's double wide on a barrier island on the east coast of FL!
