I would never get a vanity plate. Not gonna pay extra to make it easier for someone to remember my plate and identify me. Too many nuts and disgruntled people out there. Some people worry too much about life to enjoy life... :(
Do you really think some nut is going to remember your vanity plate and come try to get to you -- but they are too lazy of a nut to take a photo of your normal plate if they actually wanted to stalk/follow/whatever you?
Any nut that can use technology enough to find out where you live from your plate -- can also use technology enough to remember a slightly harder to remember 7-8 digits. :)

I think the number of people that would remember your vanity plate (but not just take a pic of a normal plate), and then use it to somehow track you down and stalk you -- is so incredibly tiny that it isn't worth worrying about. Again, it is being so paranoid about being stalked because of your license plate that you're afraid of having one. That's pretty extreme paranoia.
