Does anyone have trouble getting messages using Google Voice? I see a few messages over a minute, but no deciferable message, no human voice. I tried making calls and leaving a message and it came through fine. I'm using my magicjak number as the number to transfer to google voice. I don't want to accidentally answer the phone, or any responders to have my cell unless they are tenants. I also want an easy way to look back on calls and messages.

Another issue with google voice is that it rings 5-8 times before answering. Do you feel I am losing calls due to that length of rings?

I see no way to control the number of rings through google voice. Googling for a solution says that google has no plans to change that.

What do you do with google voice or other method that streamlines the process of "all calls go to voicemail" to stay organized with responses? --75.11.xx.xx

I haven't had many problems with it. The vast majority of the time I'm getting text or email responses to our ads. The people who call already aren't following the procedure outlined in my ad to follow links to our website, etc, so if the 5-6 rings causes them to give up....well, I'm not too upset. All they get from my voicemail message is the same links again.

I get those non-voice calls as well, both on my personal cell phone and on GV number. Pretty sure it's telemarketer calls that are auto dialed and then they have no one on their end to take the call when GV answers so it is recorded as static, occasional tones, or a long silence.

Like Sid, 95% of mine are texts not voice calls, I don't care if the voice callers give up. --209.205.xxx.xx

99 times out of 100, I don't listen to my GV voicemail. I just read the transcript. If there is no transcript, I might check it-- but it's usually a spam call, so I don't worry. My callers usually get intimidated at the point where they're prompted to say their names. If they can get past that mental block of "not being an anonymous caller", things proceed like normal. If they can't give their name, but they're interested in being considered for me to trust them with possession of a valuable asset for their own benefit--- well, they can go kick tires elsewhere. I've never counted my rings. :) --172.56.x.x

I have paid GV which I will say is a lot less problematic than free GV in which the settings often went wonky.

I have my "office phone" which is an analog 3 line POTS phone connected to a voip obihai box.

I stupidly ported to Ooma a few years back from free GV because of such settings issues. However I lost a TON of features with Ooma including SMS. To keep my original number, I had to break down and get paid GV in order to port back. The settings issues cleared up however with Google Workspace (bundled with paid GV) I don't use all the features with Workspace as I have my own domain for DH's biz with godaddy.

I did lose incoming simultaneous call ring to the office phone as only legacy free GV supports that however DH's biz line rings directly to my smartphone using the GV app.

I can still use the 3 line office phone to make outbound calls using the GV line (via obihai) The other line is the fax line which I can also make outbound calls on if I wish (fax number is a voip number from my ISP that bundles a number with internet) --72.231.xxx.xx

I've had no issues with Google voice. Most of the changes I make I do through the phone rather than through my PC. I get human voicemails fine, and also an attempted transcription. --99.92.xxx.xxx

sometimes it is wonky but for a free app it is good. I too typically use the transcript feature. I only use GV for new tenant screening, or vendor inquires. Once an applicant becomes an leased tenant, I give them my regular phone number. I only have one regret, with a recently booted tenant, that has sent me all these spam texts and calls. They are now becoming less and less, but they still come. It is annoying. Wish I can return the favor. --71.117.xxx.xx
