My freezer icemaker recently started spilling water into the trey. I estimate 1/4 cup during and after each time it makes new ice cubes. It does not drip any water at all except when ice cube trey fills with water.
There is no filter and we have enough water pressure but I cannot confirm how much water pressure is making it to the icemaker. I think it might just need cleaned, not sure how difficult that is?

I have had the same thing happen - these are probably the most common ice-maker style out there (half-moon shaped cubes). As the tray gets older, the non-stick coating tends to start failing, and believe it not, the water will actually "climb" up and out of the tray and either freeze the mechanism, or dribble into the catch tray. An old-time refrigerator repair man told me to coat the top rim of the ice tray with food-grade silicone gel. I removed the ice maker unit (two self taping screws and a harness plug) and cleaned it up and coated the top rim, and re-installed - worked perfectly. However, when I had it out, I noted that the non-stick coating was badly deteriorated, and I went ahead and ordered a new unit - very cheap - less than 50.00 on-line. --76.237.xxx.xxx |

Thanks, I will check that! It went from nothing to "quit a bit" (meaning 1/4 cup) and from one particular area. --74.81.xxx.xx |
