Consumer Reports just published toilet rankings.
Home Depot Glacier Bay N2428R-DF was ranked highest BUDGET-FRIENDLY DUAL-FLUSH.
If we replace a toilet for rentals or flips we ONLY install dual flush. Today's buyers like the idea of saving the planet.

Brad, I thought the consensus here in the past few years was that dual flush terlets require more service calls and don't flush #2 well in general, so tenants keep flushing anyway.
Thoughts? My #1 has been the AS champion 4max but I have one that is leaking from the tank and it's less than 5 yrs old. On another one I had to replace just the gasket washer, which is not a stock/ universal replacement part. Took a few days from amazon to receive the ten dollar plastic ring. --24.194.xxx.xx |

What is the definition of dual flush?
The cheap toilets I get from Lowes for $89 are "push for number one, hold and release for number two". That is dual flush for me --50.4.xxx.x |

Just bought 3 to replace all our toilets in condo at beach. I bought a Glacier Bay power flush, a Kohler Elmbrook the complete solution, and a Kohler Highline Arc (complete solution) whatever that is.
We just wanted the taller commodes, and these are all elongated. --216.126.xx.xxx |

"Single" flush toilets can be made "dual" flush by how far you push the lever. 1/2 push for #1, full push with more water available for #2. That said, for tenants I too would install dual flush; can't always count on tenants to follow simple instructions or anything out of the ordinary. --35.132.xx.xxx |

Other toilets are ranked - expensive, single flush, etc.
Don’t miss the concept that prospects see a dual flush toilet as “Green” and responsible.

Environmentally responsible would be to flush your toilet with rain water, however, most people aren't as crazy as myself. --73.113.xxx.xxx |

At least in the Eastern half of the US - water is cheap. I'd be more concerned about getting rid of a gas bill, or saving electricity.
Water here is $30 for 2000 gallons
Average person here probably uses 2000 to 2200 gal a month
electricity is $.12 a kW
Average person probably uses 1600 kW a month with 1 heat pump running --65.188.xxx.xxx |

As far as toilets go. I install the chair height single flush elongated bowl toilets - usually Kohler - cimmaron - on sale it usually was $199. Last time I installed Lowes project source one for $99 and so far I have been happy with it. --65.188.xxx.xxx |

For rentals where the water is expensive and the LL pays the bill, Niagara Flapperless is pretty bulletproof. No water leaks and simple to repair. IMO, the 1.6 gallon is the optimal size. --201.140.xxx.xx |

I pay for water and usually, when I get a big bill, it can be traced to my AS Champion toilets. I now put food dye in the tanks and test the toilets on a regular basis, to avoid large water bills. So, I'd say, the ability of the toilet flapper to maintain a reliable seal, is the most important quality of a toilet :-) --74.102.xx.xx |
