I have a bulk contract that expires 12-7-22. They tell me there is NOTHING I can do to end it early and save a few bucks. It is $2,000 a month. I hop to negotiate owing only 2 months not 4. They say impossible. Anyone ever deal with this?

Same as I tell tenants who want to leave early: you signed the contract and I assume you read it and understood it before you signed it.

I was in the Spectrum store while a woman was there trying to get a commercial contract straightened out for her HOA and I listened as she was told that the regular associates had no power over it and she would have to contact Spectrum's business division (and it would have to be the HOA and not her that did it). She had been in several times and no one had told her that and she wasn't told that until well after they started talking to her.

I don't know if it is a big company secret or if the sales staff is just totally incompetent. I've been in there so I am going with "incompetant staff"

So my only advice is to make sure you are speaking to the right people.

I can't speak to the hoa angle but I switched to business spectrum because the service is real and responsive. perhaps you can switch and save money since it's still spectrum. only thing I couldn't do was port my home phone number to the new account. --172.58.xxx.xx

I did not open the account, it is 5 years old. I bought the place 2 years ago. I once had Spectrum install cable at a hose I was rehabbing. I was only using it for wifi for security cameras. Did not work, took me 4-5 hours before they figure out they turned on cable to the wrong address. A few months later I get a letter for nonpayment. You guessed it - for the wrong house they turned on - they are billing me. When I tried to cancel the said we need the billing address, which I could not give because I was never able to find out where they turned it on by mistakes. I called a half dozen times - most people could not figure out a solution and put me on hold until I hunt up - often an hour later. It took me weeks and around 8 hours to get it fixed. 12 hours of shear frustration and I never got 1 second of service.

They are a trainwreck. --74.81.xxx.xx

Charter/Spectrum is indeed a trainwreck. We come across this all the time because I run a business that does IT for other businesses. We find new clients that are 2 years into a 5 year contract with Spectrum at $2000/month for internet -- when fiber that is 3 times faster is available for $150/month. They can't do anything about it and I've never seen even one of them get out of the contract. Spectrum has them locked in and knows it.

Now, in YOUR case, it is interesting. I mean, YOU never signed a contract. Someone else did. I'm curious if they could put a lien on the property for it when you didn't sign anything... It's an interesting question, at least. Might be worth an hour with a lawyer to read over the contract...

That is an interesting approach John. At $2000 a month it would be worth a discussion with a lawyer. Who knows you might not even have to pay 2 months worth. --209.205.xxx.xx

Thanks for the input, I will not screw the old owner, so even if I have the upper hand I will not play it. --74.81.xxx.xx
