Yay! Water! (by Pat [VA]) Posted on: Aug 2, 2022 1:25 PM

Biggest gamble in a long time, too old to be sweating like this! The well man came yesterday and finished drilling today! I'm SO thankful we have water!!!!

They said it might be 8 months and here we are, just closed on it Friday, it doesn't get much better than this! Because after renting it for a couple or three years we can easily sell it now for a lot more money than they got selling it to us with no well.

Ken out of all of the properties we have (23 counting our house and the farmhouse my Dad was born in 1910) we only have one with that iron/Sulphur water. It smells like rotten eggs, I could get more rent for it except for that.

Hoping this water is clear, but just so glad to have our own water well. He said it was 230'. They hit water sooner but went deeper to give us a reserve.

We only have one rental on the town water system, tenant pays for water. --216.126.xx.xxx

Ken,

I have lived within the city limits all of my life and all I know is 'city water' that you pay a monthly water bill for. Actually, a large river flows through my city and the water dept pumps it out 24/7, purifies it and then puts it into underground pipes that come everyone's house.

Now, I have tasted that sulfur water you mentioned when I visit people who live out in the sticks. Do you live in the sticks? --71.207.xxx.x

Roy,i have never had city water in a house where i live.Grew up on a farm and currently live on a lake so the lake itself is built up with houses pretty much but my overall community is rural.I have neighbors with livestock and my neighbor across the road has trail cams out and fairly regularly gets bob cats, lots of deer etc.My road does not have yellow lines nor do we have street lights and only 1 red light in town which is how i like it,thinking about moving and getting a place with enough land to get some cows again --74.77.xx.xx

That was funny Ken. That said, I am not sure if I have ever had well water either, however, I know I need to get out more. --73.113.xxx.xxx

6x6,

When city people want to taste 'well water' they go to the grocery store and buy bottled water that says "Natural Spring Water' on the label. I would assume Natural Spring water and well water are the same thing,...it all comes out of the ground. --71.207.xxx.x
