update on death of tenant (by Barb [MO]) Posted on: Jul 4, 2022 5:28 PM

The sister of the deceased finally reached out to me. All worked out.

She said the son had been in and gotten what he wanted before we even knew the man was gone.

She came over and got what she wanted from the home, a number of family pieces. She helped us haul a bunch of stuff to the curb.

I hired a guy to scoop the trash out. Filled a 20 yard dumpster, and that is after a lot of it disappeared off the curb. The dirt was so bad, we literally had people scrubbing the walls and floors (wood) with scrub brushes. Took a power washer to the basement.

On the plus side, it was clean and fresh enough and in good enough repair that I was able to show it on Friday afternoon to a pair of students.

It wasn't this bad the last time i had changed the furnace filter, but that was probably February. The house doesn't have central AC, so we didn't do anything after that. Amazing how fast someone can slide.

all the profit for the year and then some is gone, but life continues. --149.76.xxx.xx

I had one of those two years ago. Wife left with the kid and he got involved in drugs. The house went from the home of a great housekeeper to piles of spilled food and drinks in every room in less than 3 months. Ended up having to evict him.

At least you got it turned over fairly quickly, the goal is to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible. --209.205.xxx.xx

Glad to hear that worked out well.

I think when people get that ill, they can't and don't clean up anything. Of coarse, I am not too sure that most healthy people clean? --73.120.xx.xxx

Glad it worked out easily for you. Yes, sometimes cleanliness is not #1 on the list when you don't feel well. --73.230.xxx.xx
