I've asked this before, but another unit I'm redoing. I'm refreshing the kitching from the golden oak wood look. I'm thinking an off white color, but if I do that, might need to replace the counter as that is white.
Any other colors folks using? I was thinking maybe an light gray?

We've done grey and we've done white. Women tend to like white but don't seem to have strong feelings about the grey, they like that too. (I did a poll.) They DO like grey walls and white woodwork. --50.82.xxx.xxx |

I did a granite color - Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2X spray. Then lighter greige (gray w beige tint) on walls. New nickel plated hardware. Looks great but I'm told regular white cabinets is a better - more popular starting color. Ask local realtors. --73.215.xxx.xx |

Grey cabinets are great with white countertop --68.229.xxx.xxx |

White cabinets get grungy even faster than other colors and a lot faster than natural wood.
Sometimes things that are excellent in your own home are not good for rentals. Tenants do not take care of their rental the same way that you take care of your own house. --76.178.xxx.xxx |

I did a kitchen remodel for a customer last summer and they did light gray upper cabinets and dark gray lower cabinets and it looks really nice. (I did not do the painting) --184.54.x.xx |

Sand off the polyurethane and stain it a darker color like walnut or mahogany. Darker woods are in style. Stain and poly only needs to be wiped down. Paint will chip and show dirt. Stain once, or paint over and over. --73.194.xxx.xxx |

I've painted three of mine Swiss Coffee white. I have long term tenants. At next turnover, I am thinking of stripping and going with a stain and poly. The fourth house of mine will likely always need to be painted, as I cobbled together cabinets from three different sets, three different types of wood.
My mistake with my cabinets may have been using water based paint. I'm sure some company still sells a nice durable oil based paint. --70.92.xxx.xxx |

I used acrylic med-dark grey to cover the hideous kermit the frog green that was once in the lower apartment. Also changed the hardware to something more simple and modern --72.231.xxx.xx |
