Oh I would defintely rent to myself, and I've been a renter.
The kind of landlord I am is exactly the kind of landlord I would want. Somebody who you could pay rent to and never see for months on end if you don't want to lol
Also I'm not a slumlord. But since I've become a landlord, I've learned by experience the never-shared-by-media secret that its usually the filthy tenants that make the place look like a slum, not the landlord.

Your management company would not be able to qualify me cause I have no W2 income. They wouldn't know what to do with my application. Interesting question. I rented a nice condo in another town for the past 4 years and we stayed there quite a lot. They actually loved us as tenants as we knew what they would be looking for. We were respectful of their rules and they were very stringent. We learned a lot from them on enforcement of rules. Whether I liked them or not is not the questions. We respected their rules as they have 400 units. It was a very clean, safe, and orderly complex, mainly because they would jump on anyone at the first sign of violating the rules. Our daughters are out of college now so we gave it up. We had a great experience with them and have brought many of their practices to our operation. --199.188.xxx.xx |

I would rent to myself with no problem. However, I would not rent to my own father who lived beyond his means and eventually had to file for bankruptcy. Even after bankruptcy, he continued to buy things (cars, boats, etc.) on credit that he could not afford. --71.207.xxx.x |

Probably not. My W2 income is not enough if 3X times the rent-I stay because I have good insurance. However, I have savings due to the selling of property and an inheritance but I would not hand over my bank statements. My credit score is pretty good though. Can't rent to myself since my credit ratings show that despite paying my bills on time every month for the past 40 years, I have way too much credit debt and therefore cannot qualify with my low credit score. I would rent to myself, even tho I don't have a W2. The spouse does and it would get us into a semi-decent place.
Somehow we both have credit scores over 800. My credit history is excellent. She does have a couple cats, so that might limit some places. She is actually a clean freak, so the in home visit would be fine. Unless you looked in my truck during a rehab, which is always cluttered then.

A slight twist to this post, but it is too everyone's benefit.
Why aren't you renting to yourself........each and every month - if you have a LLC?
Our state requires periodic meetings for the business to be valid. You are able to rent a place out for up to 14 days each year without filling out a schedule E. What would happen if you had a monthly meeting at your place? Could you charge your LLC say $100 for the hall rental/dining room table?
So if you are able to mark off an expense and then claim the income on your personal return (I know you all claim all the money you make at your yard sale too) you would be saving some cash.
As for renting to myself, I don't rent to Landlords
