Currently have two properties for rent. I have received an application with proof of income in the form of a two page document across the top it reads Internal Revenue Service. Form 1040. I have not personally ever seen such form even from my own tax filings. Could this be fake? I have received such similar form from two applications both receive income from their "own" businesses. Is this some summary form and is legit? or perhaps fake? Many lines list deductions with the term "from the computer" and anything with a negative (-) is a plus (+) statement or a credit. I"m confused, is this a real form from the IRS?

Even if real, they are likely giving you that because they have self-employment or 1099 income. I do not accept those because it is hard to verify. I only accept W2 income and verify with employer. --50.4.xxx.x |

1040 is a common IRS form. It would be easy to fake. Ask for the entire tax return as Ken suggested --107.141.xx.xxx |

For self employed I get 3 months bank statements and 2 years 1040 all pages tax return. I once had an applicant have H & R Block make up a return. The information was laughable. --99.23.xxx.x |

It sounds like an IRS 1040 transcript. These are often preferred because they show the IRS record of filing, as opposed to a 1040 which can be fake. --23.30.xx.xxx |
