I have tubs that clog fairly easy. I've snaked them via the trip lever opening, and used the ribbed thin snakes for the drains.
I was hinging of put in those tubshroom strainers. Anyone use those or anything else with some luck?

My tenants used them but never cleaned them. They end up gross and it really depends more on if your tenants clean them regularly. I wouldn't use them.
We instead provide strainers, tell them to keep them in and clean them after each use, or pay the plumbing bill if they don't use them

Check Amazon, type in tub strainers. I tried to send the link but it wouldn't go through here. Just make sure it is stainless steel, the others rust. --75.11.xx.xx |

We like the "mesh" as they capture more, but like anything else, they must be cleaned after use. We use them, available in many sizes, for sinks, tubs, laundry tubs, etc. I see some other ones on this page I may try, first at our home to see how I like them.
Good luck GLR!

There are several shown, but we use the first one (you can find them in different sizes) on the page and/or 4th picture on the page. Make sure to get stainless steel so they don't rust the porcelain.

I get one from Walmart made by Peerless. Round metal plate with holes in it and a rubber washer around the outside. It's flat and you just lay in over the drain. Does a good job of catching the hair before it goes down the drain. You just have to make sure the tenant will leave it in place for it to work. Some do, some don't. --209.205.xxx.xx |

JUst went through this with two tenants. Drain professionally snaked and the tech said the clog was 5 feet down the pipe. Used Drano Max on it first. Drain cover disappeared somewhere during the 20 year tenancy. Tenant found a device that was on Shark Tank and it looks like a spool for thread that has holes in it. Made of plastic and does not float up out of the drain hole. Said it catches everything. --108.24.xx.xx |

Yes, Allym that device was the tubshroom GLR mentioned.
Just got an email 5 minutes ago. 39 yr old tenant states she's keeping the drain strainer in, put when she was cleaning, her toothpaste cap fell down the drain.
We all know what really happened. You can't make this stuff up! --75.11.xx.xx |

the tub shroom gets gloopy and then it gets kicked out of the way so the tub will drain. I put a shower strainer (larger size) on the tub drain. it has smaller holes. --172.58.xxx.xx |
