I have noticed more places in my community where the front door is wide open and you can see up the stairs or it is noticeably cracked open. Not many but a few. I take this as a sign of decline and an indication of the presence of drugs and lower class tenants. How about you?

I think you’re reading too much into it…
A/C not working?
Left open for relatives picking up a child?
Door latch broken?
Person expecting Uber eats?
Doorbell inoperable? --99.92.xxx.xxx |

I view open main doors as an invitation for theft or criminal activity. Hey-come get me and/or take my stuff. Not talking about have a screen door-talking about the main door being left open. The only reason that I would accept is if someone is moving in or out. --73.230.xxx.xx |

I perked up with inoperative doorbell, all my places have them at least front door - friends / kids use the backdoor all the time. --76.190.xxx.xxx |

Last time a neighbor next door left his door open, someone walked in he didn't know and scared him enough to move out of the neighborhood! --75.11.xx.xx |

A controlled entrance with security cameras will keep out the drug dealers along with criminals as they want to be photographed. A secured building will make building more attractive to tenants. Keeping on top of security will reduce problems and vandalism. --216.110.xxx.xxx |

Agreed small potatoes ... most doors are closed but there are some that when the doors are open (cracked open or wide open) there is a distinction in that area for sure.
I understand maybe leaving open for delivery or kids but you can just leave it unlocked (unless it locks always when closed, of course). But then... most are open ALL OF THE TIME which just invites other things. --69.201.xx.xxx |
