"150 millionaires want to pay more in taxes and completely overhaul every world government's tax code.

More taxes? A group called the “Patriotic Millionaires” believes current tax methods only make the rich, richer, and wealth inequality worse around the world.

• The group publicly supported taxing the wealthy more during this year’s World Economic Forum.

Every 30 hours, someone new was added to the world’s billionaire list in 2020 and 2021.

• This year, 1 million people could fall into poverty at the same rate.

Some organizations have proposed raising global corporate taxes to 25% and the U.S. capital gains tax to almost 30%, which could produce an additional $20 billion in yearly global tax revenue."

Okay, what is really going on here?

I have never heard of Patriotic Millionaires but why would anyone want to pay more in taxes knowing that our current government will only waste it on unnecessary government hand-outs like free stimulus money for everyone? The only way our tax system would ever get overhauled would be after a total worldwide economic collapse which is not going to happen. Plus, when you are a billionaire, spending a million dollars extra in taxes comes easy. Easy come, easy go. --71.207.xxx.x

I don't see what their problem is. I'm sure the government would cheerfully accept extra tax payments from them. If they want to pay more taxes, no one is stopping them from contributing more of their income to the government, to be wasted and misappropriated.

Or they could use their money to pay for the things that they think the government should be paying for: they can open and run a homeless shelter at their own expense, or buy a bomber out of their own pocket and gift it to the army, or even repair a highway bridge. I'm sure they could arrange to do those things and that way, their money goes to do the things they believe in, instead of redecorating offices or paying for junkets, or buying votes. --76.178.xxx.xxx
